agreed, cinton fight started the blue print and martinez finished the bule print on beating the punisher. not ever fighter can do it though, pw is all out pressure fighter.decent speed and power, but hes a grinder. manny vs pw at 147 or 150. let manny retire him on his final match and great pay day.

I've always liked PW, but at his height is a problem in his weight class. Too rangey and too open to the body.

His defense has always been poor and if he hasn't hurt you with the str8 R or the L hook early, a good shortpunching fighter can hurt him as most of his opponents have showed lately.

As for the PAC fight, yeah, PW is a name, and is coming off a "win", but c'mon, I'd rather see him step down in class, become a gatekeeper to earn his living, and save him the embarrassment of a PACMAN devastation.

Plus there's NO real upside in this fight for PAC. Martinez, maybe since he's got the goods, but PW is an easy win for PAC and most folks wouldn't buy the hype.

I don't think so. I've seen the same PW in his last fights. I wish he would stop fighting so much on the inside, and straighten up his shots.

If he was shot, he would not have been chasing and throwing on Lara the whole 12, which he did. He would have gotten dropped from Lara's lefts at some point if he was a shot fighter. We'll see how PW performs in his next fight, cause after all those power shots landing, maybe now he is shot.

Williams has always been as open as can be. He's never been anything special. Matthysse hit him a lot, Margarito looked accurate against him, Quintana put on a left hand clinic when they first fought. But Martinez probably took something out of Williams that left him more vulnerable than ever. The first fight was pretty brutal for Paul. He took a lot of flush punches from a solid punching guy that easily moved up to middleweight. I thought he looked slower than ever yesterday. The wars and Swiss cheese defense haven't done him any favors and it'll continue to get worse and worse as he fades more and more.

In his last 4 fights, I've had him losing to Martinez, Cintron, Martinez again, and Lara. Fans will never speak of him as a top 10 p4p fighter again.

Quintana showed how to outbox him but the 1st Martinez fight took away Paul's chin...after that Cintron buzzed him and Martinez fisnished him off for good in the rematch.

One of Paul's most important attributes was his chin and Martinez took that chin.

Paul Williams was doomed since the day his team decided to make him a pressure fighter despite having a height/reach advantage of 4"-6"/6"-8" over the average WW or JMW. Not to mention a pencil neck and tiny head which were obviously not designed to absorb punishment. I'm not sure whether this was due to mismanagement or stubborness by his trainer...either way, it's a total waste considering how rare it is for someone that tall to comfortably make 147 or 154. So to answer your question yes, he's been ruined...by his own team.

This sad outlook can be said about Juan Ma, Margarito, Ortiz, Cotto, Alexander, Berto, and a host of fighters who fans think that they know a flawed fighter when they see one. Hyping fighters is a part if boxing. Nobody here thought PW was a flawless fighter except his fans, and I bet if you asked them, they'd say PW WAS flawed.

Haha the irony! :rofl So after one fighter loses, the hype should stop because he has been exposed?

Years of getting clocked clean in the face is what deteriorated Williams's abilities. Martinez was a contributing factor to that but not the main cause.... and the fact that he and his trainer are too ****ing stupid to see that his main problem is defense means that we probably have seen the best of P. Willy already.

This is what happens when guys are too loyal to their trainers. There comes a point when a guy can only take you so far, and you can't get any further unless you make a change. Unfortunately, Paul has taken loads of punishment and flush shots. He seems to have faded badly in a very short amount of time, and his reaction to being hit is kind of scary.

I wouldn't be suprised if Alvarez-Williams happens this winter.
