Many people say Pacquiao was on peds and stopped around that time. But I think the Margarito fight took a lot out of him, he got his ribs broken and was in the hospital for like a week after the fight. Pacquiao is still a great fighter, but hasn't really been the same since that fight.

He'd have been 32-33, probably when his prime would have been going naturally.

No. Pac's career, his wars, THOSE have more to do with than one single fight.

Yes he did; this was borderline consensus a few fights/years after the scrap. Good shout mate.

Pac walked through hell to come away with the victory. During the post fight interview, he said that he was hurt to the head and body and that he was "so lucky" to win.

165 pound guy punching on a 148 pound guy.

It could have been a small factor, but I think its more to do with other factors, like Pac increasing in age, the rigors of his life outside the ring in politics etc., wear and tear from a long division hopping career, and lets be honest, it probably had something to do with some supplemental stuff he was ingesting.

I think guys losing their prime in the span of a single fight is extremely rare, and its an overblown phenomenon on this site. There's cases like Ritchie Kates after being stopped by Victor Galindez, or JLC/Diego Corrales, but again, its very rare.

He aged overnight and never looked great since. It wasnt gradual so it would suggest the marg fight took its toll.

He faced mostly runners/boxers since then though, Pac looks good versus come-forward guys like Matthysse for example.

Lol are you guys crazy or just bored on a Tuesday night?!?

Margarito got the dog$hit beat out of his Mexican ass. I mean, I never saw a beating like that.

I remember being shocked. Margartio, a huge man by any measure, a hard piece of Mexican leather, just getting his face utterly caved in and punched to pieces.

He barely landed a punch all night until he hit the body blow that doubled pac over and caused a slight fracture in one rib.

One punch and a fractured rib does not "beat the prime" out of anyone. Pac was 32 going on 33 and had been in genuine wars from light featherweight to junior middle. Most Feathers are retired by 32.

If we are going off of when did Pacquiao look his best physically? Its clearly the first Barrera and Marquez fights. He walked through heavy power shots, non stop punches and head movement for 12 rounds. Was faster then than at any point of his career and carried maximum power then.

I think the Marquez and Morales wars already took something out of him. Look at how bad and violent the Morales fight actually was. It was absolutely brutal.

But his improving technical skills masked any loss of explosiveness or wear and tear up until around the Margarito fight.

So while Pacquiaos boxing prime lasted until around the Margarito fight. Physically the wars with Morales and Marquez had already taken their toll way earlier.

Compare Pacquiao from 126 pounds to 2009 Pac. Yes hes still fast and explosive, but Pac in 2003 and 2004 was shockingly fast and powerful.

It amazed me too where Pac hpt that sudden incredible punching powet from. But there again Marg;s team wanted Pacs wrap[s removed claiming illegal ities Freddie refused & the Commission let him off. Looks suspicious doesn't it ??????

You know what beat Manny Pac? Removing his PED's. The moment he got accused of using steroids he stopped knocking guys out.

That was the last fight where his technique and physical tools seemed to come together at the same time.
