Thats the way I see it too. Cotto fought a Manny Pacquiao style fight not his own style. Margarito wasnt someone Cotto felt he could sit down on his punches and trade with. He moved, slipped and threw brilliant combinations, most of which landed flush. This style drained Cotto, especially when his punches didnt flinch Margarito. Margarito walked right through them. Cottos scar tissue opened but this was late in the game and after he was exhausted. Early in the fight Margarito was missing the elusive Cotto and had he not tired Miguel would have won the decision. I see it as exhaustion that slowed him down enough for Margarito to land good shots which were mostly to the body before being finished off.
For the first question I'm not sure, but we could have a better idea after a rematch. For the second one...Maybe, but if Williams stuggles making the weight Isee Cotto with a live chance to hurt Williams and change the fight.
There's no way we can say if he cheated or not, but that win will always have a big question mark. You can't blame anyone but Margarito for putting that question mark.
Was Cotto's punch power overated? He was hitting that melon of Margo all night and it didn't even phase Margo. Mosley did the same thing and stopped him.
Why? The commision and Cotto's corner all agreed that everything was OK with the gloves. Were they all inept?
No they didn't, they were still in the process of wrapping the hands when the plaster was discovered. A fighter's gloves aren't cleared until the trainer from the opposing camp has checked them and given his "OK" anyway. Why would Cotto's trainer allow Margo to have plaster in his wraps?
Cotto's corner weren't even watching when Margarito was getting his handwraps. And the commission that also said that checked Margarito's handwraps and didn't find anything wrong until Mosley's trainer busted Margo. Obviously the commission will say that everything was find in the Cotto fight, what else do you expect? "Oh we really don't know, I think we might have missed it"
