Did Antonio Margarito put about the same amount of pressure on Paul Williams, When they fought. As he did to Miguel Cotto?

He couldn't. Everyone talks about him starting slowly, as if Williams 120-150 stiff jabs in each of the first 6 rounds had nothing to do with it. He ALWAYS gets out-pointed in the first rounds. The difference here is that Williams has more than enough stamina to keep it up, even after Margo starts applying the pressure. Plus he is strong enough to push Margo the **** off of him. Not only that, just in case he still has to eat some leather, his chin good enough to be able to handle it if Margo happens to start walking him down. (ala Round 11 in Williams-Margo I)

Margo tried to apply the pressure, but he just couldn't get into a rhythm. Second fight won't be much different. Williams will just have to fight a little stronger and taller in Rounds 7 and 8 so that Margo won't come close to wearing him down with body shots.

Could go either way next time with this "new" Margarito, but I think Williams still has the only type of style that Margo is remotely susceptible to.

Williams wasn't willingly backpeddling to the ropes constantly.

What would Margarito have to do to be more effective in a rematch with Williams? Williams lost to Quintana, Made adjustments & destroyed Quintana in a rematch.

Pressure from the first round, land his upper cuts and destroy the body. Basically hes gonna have to outlast Williams. Whoever comes into the fight more prepared will take this one.

For Margarito to win in a rematch he has to start earlier he waited too long IMO he started going in the sixth round and figured that the work rate of Williams would be his down fall going down the strech.
IMO margarito should win the rematch, but he will have to work that body early to break williams down forget looking for the stoppage with Paul that might never happen due to his size, but if he chops him down little by little he will be able to get done in the second half what he wanted to the last time around.

Don't let the hype fool ya! Margo tried his damn best to get to the body of Williams. What the didn't count on, but now realizes, is that those 125 "pitty-pat" jabs may not be that crushing, but they are strong enough to keep him off.

Margo fought his heart out. There was tension and animosity at the hotel the ENTIRE weekend, from the press conference on Santa Monica, to the weigh-in at the Crowne Plaza, up until the fight started. Paul had his full attention. Margarito was fully focused, and gave it all he had. He just didn't have what it took the first time. The excuses are nothing more than marketing that has worked rather well.

Yeah, I'm thinking Williams is the anti-Margarito. He just has the style , skill, strength, and balls to beat Margo. Not that it would ever be easy, mind you.

It was hard because Williams clinching to much he trows a punch then clinch but he is not boring because he is allowed to do that, if he was a latin fighter ESB would hate him to death like Ruiz.

Maybe not as much early on....but I think Marg fights the same way EVERY time. Its just a question about how he starts...if he needs a few rounds to warm up or if he enters the fight already warmed up. The difference in the fight with Cotto and Marg compared to Marg and Williams is that Williams faught the perfect fight and it was still Close. Marg faught a great fight against williams as well but he lost too many of the early rounds to make enough impact to win the fight in the later rounds.
