I liked Arreola's comments tonight on Versus during the Toney vs. Oquendo fight. When the idiot commentators told him that the HW division was wide open, meaning that Klitschko had not impressed against Rahman, Arreola said that Klitschko was just head and shoulders above everyone else.

So Wlad's some kind of royalty, and can't have his ears soiled by the name of a legit contender? Don't you think you're being a little ridiculous?

    Very true.

what other HW fighters other than Haye bring something to the table in terms of cash and marketability?

Arreola is undefeated with a lot of KOs. He is going to get brought up

Unfortunately, Arreola is the top HW prospect in the US, so what else could he do?

This will be the first time in my life that I defend Max Kellerman. No, wait a minute, I really can't do that. How about I say that this post is just in disagreement with the thread starter?

Areola is a legit contender at this point because of how pathetic the HW division is. In almost any other division he would be a minimum of three fights against top ten fighters away from a title shot, or even being mentioned as being in the picture. The thing is though is that HBO has always thrown fighters "in the picture" even if they don't deserve it. As long as that fighter has fought on HBO and is seen as a potential money maker. Arreola fits that description.

If boxing were truly fair then Arreola wouldn't get a title shot for another three fights or so, but it's not, so he will probably get a shot after one more fight against a borderline top ten contender.

The thing is though, is other than David Haye, who else is out there for HBO to try and build up to fight Wlad? Considering he has fought Ray Austin, Tony Thompson and Hasim Rahman recently, Arreola isn't that bad of a matchup.

And just to be certain that this post isn't taken the wrong way, let me be very clear. Max Kellerman is the biggest joke of a broadcaster that I have ever seen on the national level. I absolutely can't stand the guy. He is supposed to bring a different kind of insight to broadcasts like Larry Merchant does, but he doesn't have the intelligence to do so. No matter how much more experience he garners (which he shouldn't have to considering he's been on the national stage via ESPN, FOX Sports and HBO for almost ten years), the guy will just never have any decent insight. He only states the obvious for the viewer and especially if you are into boxing, then he says things that only the more stupid posters on this site say.

Max Kellerman is a statement on today's society that it doesn't matter what kind of talent you have, simply who do you know and whether you appeal to the lowest level denominator. Idiot people listening to the opinions of an idiot commentator seem to be the order of the day.
