Yep, and got away with it too. 145, 151 lbs. At least he didn't ask guys to come down 2 and 3 lbs in weight and fight for their titles.

I remember when back in the days, The top Welters moved up to fight the best at 160.

    Robinson
    Leonard
    Armstrong
    Napoles
    Hearns

and then there's Floyd, who could school Martinez at 160, Floyd who could school Lara at 154, Floyd who could have beat Cotto via wide ud, and floyd who could this, and could that, damn, I wish May would actually move up and try to clean up 154 and 160.

Yes he did, and Golden Boy sold Marquez up the river by allowing him to go ahead with the fight as a bloated lightweight weighing 142 against a full fledge welter, all because of the money involved. It could have been tragic.

    And Castillo didn't cheat.

Guy simply couldn't make weight. If he purposely didn't make weight then I'd say he cheated.

You are typing out of your arse!!!!

    Newbies don't count.

If you know ESB's posting history, then you would know EZE. Otherwise, STFU. I am talking here of discussions that happened way before your joined date, *******.

I am sure that you believe yourself to be one of the knowledgable posters here and contributed a lot worthwhile. Believeing is one thing, what yopu really are is entirely different matter.

    Actually.

Corrales-Castillo 2 turned into a catchweight because Castillo failed to make weight.

There you are again spouting your interpretation of rules in boxing.

It was never a catchweight fight. It however became a non-title fight. Corrales could refuse to fight as it was his prerogative. However, commission withhold part of the purse as penalties, if applicable.

Fight where one fighter never makes the upper limit does not become catchweight fights. If Tygart mentioned it to you, he is an idiot.

You have been spouting this line so many times already and poster here would actually think that that is how it is.

Catchweight fights are fixed stipulations of a contract signed months or weeks before the fight, not whenever opne fighter does not make the weight.

No laughing matter when a fighter's health is comprimised so a show can go on. Ask Joey Gamache.

The situation of the Mayweather fight was worse than Castillo-Corrales II, as those guys were the same size, and Castillo tried to lose the weight. We saw what difference 2lbs made from their first fight, and they were the same size as I mentioned.

Marquez was coming up two divisions, he prepared for 144 where it was thought he'd be physically mismatched anyway. Then Mayweather has it changed to a full welterweight fight at the last minute not even trying to make the catchweight, as though he always intended to come in as a full fledge welter but had the smaller Marquez train for a catchweight. Very dangerous circumstances, but because it's Mayweather it's overlooked.
