He didn't really outright duck him. Bob Arum wanted his to sign a long-term contract to take that fight. Instead, Floyd left Arum and went off on his own. He probably should have fought Margo, but once you take into account that he became his own promoter, he made more money to fight Baldomir (since Arum was no longer getting a cut) for the lineal title. So no, it wasn't an outright duck. But you can add it to the list of fights he should have taken but didn't (Popo at 130, Hatton at 140, Cotto at 147, Pacquiao at 147, etc.)

 

Yes, Floyd ducked Margo. There were three reasons Floyd retired:

3. Miguel Cotto
2. Paul Williams
1. Antonio Margarito

As I said in another thread, Floyd's dream scenario is that Margarito beats Pac. That way, Pac's out of the picture and Floyd does whatever he wants, knowing he will never have to face MargoCheato even if Tony beat Pac.

he got more money vs baldomir didnt he? at least i think he did. so cant really blame a guy, then margo lost to williams anyways so the fight was then less attractive.

if mayweather would still have been around maybe he could have fought cotto vs margo winner, but he'd retired hadnt he.

i mean obviously he avoided margo by taking the baldomir fight, but i dont see it as a duck.
