i wouldn't say he schooled him, hatton caused him a problem or 2. a schooling is what hopkins did to pavlik/tarver/trinidad where he completely dominated the fight.
in the last few rounds mayweather started catching him a lot with accurate shots, but the first 6 rounds were competitive. so no he didn't school him, in the sense of a complete shutout before the ko.
i'm a big hatton fan but yes PBF schooled him, though the refereeing was nothing short of a disgrace from cortez.
I wouldn't say it was a schooling. As others have said, it was competetive for the first 5 or 6 rounds. It doesn't help that he fought the wrong fight, I rarely remember him even attempting to go to the body.
Floyd is on record as saying that Hatton was the toughest guy he fought, so based on that then it can't really be considered a schooling, Hatton was more competitive in the fight than say, Pavlik was against Hopkins. Hatton was outclassed on the night though.
Just because the fight was competitive for a short while, does not negate "schooling". Sometimes you use rounds to "setup" a fighter. Keep them in a compromised position. Mayweather schooled him.
Hatton was thoroughly outclassed on the night. Whether that translates into a schooling or not is subjective.
