Did McCall really have a "breakdown" or was he just frustrated (or just a bum) ?

Mcall was crying his eyes out, that was one sorry sight i never wanna see again, i do think he was genuinly not right in the head

    HOWEVER

There is a video of a sparring session with tyson where he gets caught by a huge bodyshot and walks off mid way through the round.

Mcall was a mixture IMO, mentally weak and on drugs and maybe a bit of quitte

McCall did not have d time needed 2 train 4d fight because he was still hospitalized in a rehabilitation institute close 2d fight .

As 4 speculations go i believe it was not a breakdown at all but more of withdrawal symptoms . He did seem 2 me like "playing possum" which is some sort of setting a trap . And he was crying prior 2d Maskaev fight and i do believe that he was crying coming in2 fights (not just Lewis and Maskaev) because he had 2b in a killing mood 4 them which was very hard 4 him because he wasn't such a person . If 1 has a Valuev mentality then that 1 can't do his job in d ring . McCall sometimes overcame it and d crying was a part of it and of d overcoming .

Bottom line is that Lewis could not beat a clean , focused , healthy and prime Oliver McCall whom was 2 much 4 almost any1 including Lewis .

I disagree Frank. McCall was a moderate fighter. No more and no less. Lewis stupidly hung out his chin one night.

a moderate fighter who won by way of brutal stoppages and never lost in this way and was rarely barely hurt . He never needed his gloves 2b cut off 2 buy him recuperation time , never needed d ring's ropes 2b loosened so he could play rope a dope 2 help him avoid and absorb punches , never needed smelling salts during extended breaks between rounds so he could b revived , never needed loaded/torn gloves 2 cut his opponents senselessly , was never KDd by a lightcruiserweight who could b KOd by d likes of Zora Folley & Floyd Patterson and did what "D GOAT" could never do which was 2 concuss Lennox Lewis and KO Henry Akinwande . Now that jumping , running and retreating ***** who had 2 back off and held up only by d ropes as soon as d 1st rd , he was a less than mediocre fighter .

weather it was going through withdrawl or whatever other issues he had going on, the man was in no condition mentally to be in the ring that night. A guy who has survived the final bell to as many fights as McCall did, doesn't just break down in tears and refuse to give his best in a multi-million dollar fight, unless there was already something drastically wrong going into it. Its a real shame that we never got to see him rematch Lewis at his very best. Of course i don't think he would have won regardless of how he turned up, but it would have been nice to see Lennox have to work for that redeeming moment, as well as to see McCall represent himself honorably.

McCall made the fastest recovery from a breakdown in history.

McCall was a tough, strong and durable guy with a cast iron chin. With limited ability though.

Let's get things in perspective. Oliver barely beat a former all time great who was two months shy of his FORTY SIXTH birthday ! That decision could easily have gone Larry Holmes' way.

I don't think it was frustration that caused the bizarre set of events. I have no clue if he had drugs in his system or whatever, but I strongly suspect that the cause of the breakdown had to be drug related, somehow.
Addicts are notoriously unpredictable and unreliable. You just have no idea how they will react to particular situations.

That was just wierd, strange behaviour in anyone's book. That's a level above even the ear biting incident.
