Did McCall really have a "breakdown" or was he just frustrated (or just a bum) ?

he didn't want 2 hurt him worse than he did . there were moments in d fight when Larry Holmes looked good , but McCall treated him like a very good sparring partner and seized d opportunity 2 try his "boxing" against a good "boxer" . whenever he wanted he blasted Holmes with hard punches but simply didn't want 2 brutalize d old man more than he had 2 in order 2 win . i scored that fight and had McCall winning , Holmes won a few rounds but not enough 2 win . Any1 who watches McCall vs Lewis #1 and believes d tale of McCall's limited ability should watch basketball/soccer instead .

He was trained well for one fight against an unmotivated and wide open Lewis, other than that, yes McCall was limited. He was extremely durable and had pop in his right hand but limited in skill he definitely was. He used to punch with his eyes closed ffs.

As for the rematch with Lewis, really he shouldn't have been allowed to fight but i think he thought he'd give it a go because he thought he was gonna land the jackpot punch again. After 3 rounds he realised he couldn't do **** with the man infront of him and had a meltdown.

I also scored it for McCall. The elderly Holmes ran out of gas. McCall was doing his best, and there was no taking it easy on his geriatric opponent. After all,McCall knew that if he'd lost his title to an old man,he'd have been laughed out of the ring. I gave it to Oliver by about two rounds only.

have u seen his fight against Jesse Fergusson ? did he seem limited there ?
he was primarily limited by his drug abuse but not always and less during his prime .
McCall's right hand was top 5 in its power , u call it pop ? very nice of u .
Until something inside his brain snapped , he didn't do bad in d rematch against Lewis despite being undertrained and unprepared .

because he didn't want 2 get punched in them when they were open .
D green part is correct and self explanatory .
He could do big **** with d man in front of him but snapped nonetheless .

Holmes got d **** beat out of him whenever McCall decided on it , then there really was no taking it easy on d old man . But most of d time he just seized d opportunity 2 use Holmes as sparring partner 2 work on his "boxing" .
McCall didn't want 2 brutalize Holmes more than necessary and he did take it easy on him most of d time .
After d fight he said : "i can't do that with Mike" .
He meant that on Tyson he would fight 4 real all d time and not just enough 2 win .

Yeah some people do say the same about big George but George consistently bludgeoned opponents to defeat. So a pointless statement.

I wasn't being derogatary about McCall's right hand i said he had a pop in it, so yes i agree he could wallop. Top 5 power? That's your opinion.

No he couldn't do **** with the man infront of him. Having some semi-successful bumrushes in the second round with his eyes closed is the best he could muster. Even then he was getting caught coming in.

Like u do with his right hand u go on and underestimate his performance vs Lewis in d rematch until he snapped . And that was a fight we both agree that shouldn't have been held and , don't know if u agree about this , should have at least warrant a drug test 2 verify if McCall was clean . Supposing he was , which is possible , he still had his withdrawal symptoms and still haven't got d necessary time 2 train 4d fight and also based upon his whole career and on n interview with him , probably never got d sparring partners he needed .

lol No i'm not underestimating his right hand power, you' re saying i am coz of the way i worded things. He had a good dig on him what more do you want me to say? He was one of the top 5 hardest punchers in history?

Anyway, if i remember rightly McCall's camp claimed he was tested 1 or 2 days before the fight, whether that's true, who knows. I ain't underestimating his performance i'm simply saying he could'nt do anything that night, and even if he didn't have his meltdown i still don't think he would of been able to do anything with Lewis in that mood.

As for sparring and training i don't know mate, what i do know is none of it was Lewis' fault. McCall was strong as an ox with an iron chin but was limited in the skill department, he was trained properly for one fight (Lewis 1). That's my opinion.

possibly , but my claim was only about his right hand being a top 5 in its force .
With whose mood ? his or Lewis' ?
with his mood he still could land a big 1 on n aggressive Lewis but Lewis knew y he was pulling back on his punches .

Of course it wasn't Lewis' fault , my claims r that Lewis could never beat a relatively clean and motivated McCall d way McCall beat him and that McCall could repeat a stoppage over Lewis if it wasn't 4 his substance abuse , and that Lewis' claim of "beating every man he ever fought" is just ignorant demagogy

    Lewis' mood.

I agree nobody could drop McCall like that and if it did happen it would need some pretty exceptional circumstance, because his chin was one of, if not thee best the division has seen.

I'm 100% confident in saying McCall wouldn't have struck gold a second time with a motivated and focused Lewis, whether he was clean or not. McCall's breakdown was partly down to the fact (idk how much, who does) he couldn't do anything with Lewis, and regardless of how good his chin was, Lewis was hurting him in that fight. I ain't saying he'd have knocked him down but they were hurting him.

On top of already shipping some heavy shots, go to 1.05 of the 3rd round and tell me that counter right hand didn't exassipate Oliver's problems. From this point Oliver started with his antics and gave up. Because there was nothing he could do and he was'nt willing to take those kind of shots to try and progress in the fight. I understand human nature and it's clear to me Oliver didn't like taking those shots.

Lewis was on d same mood in their 1st fight .

Akinwande may have a claim 4 dropping McCall , Bruno launched McCall in2 d ropes and might have floored him if there weren't ropes but then McCall would have probably just kept flying back until he stabilized himself .

Even in d 2nd fight McCall hurt Lewis more than vice versa at least until d snapping . came .

0.33 : Lewis lands a right hand , a few seconds later McCall comes back dancing .
    1:05 : Lewis gives McCall a tender push .
    McCall > Lewis , really .

Ok Frank i totally disagree with these points here.

Your either trying to get a rise out of me coz i got Lewis in my avvy, which i suppose you've already half succeeded in. Good for you.

Or you're a hater of Lewis, if so then there is no point going on anyway coz you'll just disagree with anything i say for the sake of it.

    McCall's limited. End of. :thumbsup

McCall came out threw big bombs. Tried everything he could to win then got frustrated and broke down mentally. He was a drug addict. Things didtnt go his way and he couldnt cope with it.

Basically all he did was rob Lewis of a more definitive victory. Just bizzare behavior by a very unstable person:nut. He got lucky in the first fight anyway.

I dont generally believe in lucky punches but that one comes close. McCall eyes were closed.:bbb

2 men fought in their prime and 1 stopped d other . then they fought again while d other was still in his prime and d 1 was dragged out of a rehab institute . D 1 still hurt d other more than vice versa , remained on his feet throughout and wasn't even remotely battered . D other was also KOd by another man while d 1 was never , despite having a longer career .
D other never wanted any part of d 1 again after he got his paper revenge which was nothing similar 2d concussive ending of their previous encounter .
    Is there a way 2 rank d other above d 1 based on h2h ? no . but yes according 2 ESB .

Also if McCall is limited then Lewis is also limited compared 2 Corrie Sanders 4 example . Did Lewis was as fluid on his feet ? did he threw as hard , fast and long lasting combinations , while on d move forward so smoothly ? no . There4 , Sanders should b ranked higher than Lewis due 2 Lewis' being limited . Lewis even ducked Sanders , and was KOd cold by d same man who stopped Sanders on his feet . If they fought Sanders stood a good chance of repeating on Lewis what he did on Wlad , but Lewis' management was smarter than having their well kept princess fighting such a dangerous man as Sanders or a focused McCall (again) .
