Wonder what would have happened if McClellan did not have the brain damage and if the first knockdown would have be a legitimate knockout and the referee did not seem to know what he is doing and secondly if the fight went on I think that McClellan would have eventually stopped Benn especially after the beating he gave in eight round.
I am more interested in knowing if a 20 count over a boxer falling outside the ring rule was in effect. But, I guess that McClellan already were damaget goods when he entered the ring.
He was no doubt seeing him blinking in the second fight against Jackson and in the pre fight training. By the way Benn never fell of the apron so it should have been a 10 count.
If Gearld had not always drained himself to such a sadistic extent he would've made a fine light-heavyweight and wouldnt have suffred the severe brain damage that befell him due to the dehydration or perhaps his success came off being one largest middleweight in the sports history? We will never know.
Without the brain injury McCellan would have most certainly won, and Benn would have showered himself in glory with the tremendous fight he put up. Benn was on his way out after giving it everything, its astonishing he got out of that first round. depends how you see with regards to him being allowed to fight on in that first round.
