Did mike ever fight someone who could jab or move as good as douglas?

I think that the version of Tyson that turned up is certainly the main factor in that fight. He just wasn't there from the first bell.

    There were other factors though.

Douglas did play a blinder and did put on a career best performence. He probably would have beaten Tucker or older Holmes that night.

Its a well known fact he wasnt training very hard. Which part of that is difficult for you to understand?

    Tyson was sloppy and beatable.

Douglas looked very good but not unbeatable either.

It's not overrated - it's still a great win though.

Tyson was completely unprepared for a guy to not just give in when he came on.

He didn't train or prepare for a seek and destroy fight, and Douglas beat the tar out of him.

As one-sided a loss as any great heavyweight has sustained. I can think of Ali-Holmes and Foreman-Frazier as the only greater ones. Tyson was utterly outclassed.

The only reason it is a good win is purely because Of Tyson.

Change his name to something else and all of a sudden, the win doesnt look too good.

it was Mike Tyson though. some people were saying he was unbeatable. he was a an overwhelming favourite. Douglas beat him up nicely.
its NOT an overrated win. it was a great win.

Douglas was a good foil for Tyson, but Mike still should have won. Look at his corner for Christ Sakes! They let his eye swell shut because they had no tools and the advice was only "punch Mike punch!"

For the record, Biggs could jab and move better than Douglas. Really old Holmes could too. Neither had the power though, Mike figured out early he didn't need to box and could walk through them whenever he wanted. Pinklon was better but his shoulder was messed up.

A focused Mike with a good trainer..not condom man.."punch Mike punch!" should win a close decision in similar fashion to the Tucker fight. It wouldn't be pretty but he would endure. Hell, Mike was still a few seconds away from winning this one with one uppercut.

Holmes could jab but not move for anything more than a minute or so.

Tucker couldn't jab and move well enough, plus rumors are that when he hit Tyson with a good uppercut in the 1st round he broke his hand.

Biggs could jab and move, but didn't have the veteran sense to do a few other things like hold, shove, use angles, and he was up against a Tyson who wanted his blood.

Pinklon Thomas was a shell of his former self. He could jab, but not move.

Tucker was a good win, but he couldn’t discourage Tyson with the successes he had in their fight like Douglas did.

Holmes was back from a two year fishing trip..

Tony tubbs put weight on so that he couldn’t collect a bonus and have an excuse ready.

Pinklon thomas wasn’t right. since beating weaver a long time earlier he had not beat a rated fighter. He got hurt early on in the fight and did not recover entirely enough to be competitive.

Exactly, you had one man poorly prepared and certainly well below the par he had been on not that long before. His mind was not on the job and he had a mob of monkeys guiding him.

You had the other guy primed for easily the best performance of his career, and with a big enough bag of tools to make life tough for anyone. He showed something missing at times in other fights - great heart and determination.

Any fighter can look brilliant if his opponent allows him to. There were other guys who could have made Mike look silly if Tyson showed up out of shape, no footwork, no combos, no body work, no fire, one punch at a time. Tucker, Biggs, Holmes, Thomas, Spinks, Tubbs all could have outboxed that version of Tyson. In fact, that version would get KO'd early by Smith and Ruddock. Tyson was a lethargic shell of himself on that night. It was pretty obvious to me from the first round.

Agreed. Not to mainly discredit Douglas but it's a myth that's been disspelled over and over saying that Tyson was prime against Douglas. He looked horrible and showed no kind of fire or combinations as before. He came in the ring expecting a win and it bit him in the rear. Yes Tyson has himself to blame but that fight was much more of Tyson looking horrid than it was Douglas looking good. I guarantee Tucker could've done the same thing to that Tyson.

And I actually love that fight but I can't deny any of this.
