Seems a bit of a bizarre criticisim though, so if jones had have retired after beating tarver he'd have somehow greater despite doing less than he actually did? Kinda crazy if you ask me :think

It's the same thing as some rating Cal as an unbeatable machine with a great legacy because of 46-0 and 20 something defenses.;)

And Jones being one of the (if not the) most divisive figures in the sport doesn't help matters either.

Guys like robinson, langford and charles carried on past their best picking up meaningless losses.

Loads of champions throughout history could retired undefeated had they so desired, it's not that huge a deal really.

Tubbs, Williams, Tucker, Biggs all had comparable skills to Douglas when they fought Tyson. Fighters like Holmes and Thomas could be argued in as well but for the sake of the timing I would say those first four easily could jab and move just as good as Douglas.

The difference is Douglas could also fight a little going forward which he did in this fight after finding his mark fairly easily on the stationary Tyson.

Tubbs and Tucker couldnt find the mark and one went into survival and the other was KO'd. Biggs was moving well but his cut opened up and Tyson basically beat his legs off and made him stand and fight.

Impossible to say if he'd have ever beat douglas. But round about the time tucker beat douglas you'd have to have felt mike was capable of the same result.

When he was the under guidance of Rooney would be good.

Sometime between berbick and spinks is when I'd have place tyson at his absolute zenith as a fighter.

Or at what other stage could Douglas have pulled this off against any pre-prison version of Tyson?
