Indoctrinated into boxing A troubled man. Would have needed support from someone other than Cus up intill his 30's to be able to cope with fame and become 'normal' It saved him and brought out the worst of him But the worst of him into the public eye - as he was famous Mike is a smart dude
"I don't love this anymore man, I haven't loved it since 1919, er 1990".......he said something like this after he fought McBride......so he did love it before the game played him
Cus never intended for Tyson to be normal. He made mistakes with a young Tyson, which lead to certain flaws in the adult version.
Nature Nurture Yep. I see what your saying... indeed Cus wasn't the best man to 'raise' Mike Teach and dicipline him in boxing however - yes.
Well think about the video of him crying before going into an amatuer fight with Teddy having to re-assure him He wasn't that tough mentally but knew he could break others mentally with his reputation and image of a KO destroyer. So yes absolutly.
maybe a few reasons A, its a closed chapter, maybe he wants people to get to know him as a man maybe he doesnt want to be defined by his boxing alone B like many child stars, i say this because he was raised for boxing and spent his youth boxing, he may have had some behind the scenes stuff that he ignored then but is hurting him now not gonna point fingers or make claims but maybe something happened when he was younger that he buried away and now that boxings done he is coming to grips all speculation of course and im no master in psychology
You would be surprised at how little boxers care about the sport outside of their fights. Take james kirkland for example, fighting on a morales undercard " I dont even know who eric morales is "
I once saw Mike talking about his days as a fighter, and talking about the way people would approach him and the things they'd say, and he said "I hate my fans.". We've all seen him say his belts were "garbage.". Mike is trying to put those crazy days behind him and that person he did not like behind him. But did Mike like to box? Yeah. But eventually as he said he didn't have the fighting guts anymore. And he hates the business. I doubt we'll ever see him train anyone.
