did Mosley play his cards right by staying inactive after Margo?

After Mosley best Margo, he could have fought anyone in the world but he kept his cool and waited for the big payday against Pac or PBF. Now he's got it and he could have fought 5 Berto's before making the money he'll make against 1 Mayweather.

No he didnt chose to do this. The man begged to fight Pacquiao at 140 for christ sakes. Mosley planned to fight a couple hours ago.

I don't think SSM wanted to be this inactive for this length of a time. The cancellation of his fight w/ Berto was unforseen w/c gave him an opening to get a fight w/ FMJ.

I think he didn't want to fight anyone other than Pac or Floyd. Once he saw that that wasn't gonna happen, he agreed to fight Berto. But he could easily have rushed in after Margo and fought Berto, Clottey, Cotto or PW and that imo would have been a mistake. Not that he would have lost any of those fights (I think he beats PW, loses to Berto, 50/50 Clottey and Cotto) but you never know.

I don't know if he tried to have things take so long but in the end he got what he wanted. For a 38 year old fighter, it worked out well because he does run the risk of getting old over-night, regardless of how good he looked against Margarito.

I he had fought six months ago, some guy up in the rankings but not particularly great, he'd have been better off, imo. He's going into the second or third biggest fight of his career-legacy-wise and he's been active for far too long.

I agree, PW would have been big, but not blockbuster by any stretch of the word. Berto, we already saw what the hype was for this fight. It was Wanted by hardcore fans, but no one else. If Mosley fights Clottey then he is moving horizontaly, not vertically. Finally, a rematch with Cotto would be well accepted for the revenge angle, but it lost SO much after the Pac fight.

All's well that ends well for Mosley

yeah, when Cotto/Pacquiao was only within hours of being signed. Why did he agree to 140 then but refused 142 a month prior. :think

Truth is, he waited for the winner of Hatton/Pacquiao, if Hatton wins Mosley/Hatton gets made in an instant at Manchester, if Pacquiao wins then Mosley would have to be very persistent but Arum already had plans of Pacquiao/Cotto later in the year. When that didnt work out Mosley waited for the winner of Mayweather/JMM, Mosley got real desperate and confronted Mayweather in front of everybody for a fight. Mayweather wanted Pacquiao, Mosley took the only good fight that was available and that was Berto and the rest is history.

Mosley had a plan and a backup plan but both fell apart onto him. Hes getting his shot now at Mayweather and thats all that really matters.

Who was there to fight? He asked Pac after Hatton, and again Floyd after the JMM match...
