Not true. He had been steadily deteriorating for several years ever since he left Ingle. At his best he'd've beaten any featherweight in history. By the time he fought Barrera, Hamed was an accident waiting to happen
If he cant KO Barrera, you can stick your life on the line he aint KOing Morales. The very fact that you call Morales a brawler tells me everything I need to know about your future posts. Try actually WATCH Morales fight.
You think a prime Naz could have beat Willie Pep or even Sal Sanchez ? C`mon man, think before you post.
People talk a lot of **** about this fight and then turn it on Hameds entire career and ability. He was brilliant, he had reflexes, speed, decent chin, great fight psychology (except this fight) and of course unbelievable power. At the end of the day Barrera is an ATG who fought a brilliant fight in a style not anticipated, Naz fought a stupid fight, his training was pathetic and it was what? 115-112? Using basic logic and common sense you can see they werent worlds apart. If anyone else went in with Naz's preparation and gameplan against Barrera they wouldnt have got past round 6. And people take away from Barrera by saying Naz was never that good and he got exposed etc. ...no he was just beaten by a brilliant boxer who fought a great fight, no shame in that. The only shame is he never recovered from the loss.
Naz fought the only way he knew. He couldn't make the Adjustments he needed to make because his whole career was based on his great Power and great reflexes, and this is where you can say he was exposed. I wouldn't say Naz was one dimensional but he certainly lacked the versatility to beat berrara and possibly a further fight against Morrales. Despite the fight being fairly close on the cards Barrera made him look amateurish at time's and quite simply outclassed him.
If you watched any Hamed fights prior to Barerra, it was fairly easy to see that Naz relied almost entirely on his natural talent, rather than any learned boxing skills. If you couldn't work out that Naz would struggle against a superior technician like Barerra, then yeah, Barrera "exposed" that rather obvious fact.
Barerra won a points decision, 116-112, didn't knock Naz down, didn't knock Naz out - on what planet does that qualify as "beating the ****" out of someone?
Naz was at the end of his career anyway, win, lose or draw - he wouldn't have been around long after the Barerra fight.
I suppose I agree, I didnt really mean stupid I retract that I just meant he was working against a top level fighter and he didnt seem to take it into account at all, just thought turning up and doing what he does would do the job, it was the same against Kelly but luckily for Naz that fight came down to power chin & speed which he'll win every time. I dunno, I do think if hed knuckled down and concentrated 100% on boxing and had a full training and actually bothered to think up a gameplan for the fight he could have had Barrera or Morales.
Finally someone who knows what the hell they are talking about. None of Hamed's weaknesses were ever concealed. They were all there to see in his fights with Kelley and Sanchez, two fighters significantly inferior to Marco Barrera. Anybody who had seen a Hamed fight, must have known Barrera was going to clinic him. If they didn't, they couldn't have seen a Barrera fight either. Huge step up in class, and he never recovered. Not a GREAT.
yes. naz (the 3-1 favorite) finally ran into an elite tech boxer that exposed all the weakness' in hameds unorthodox style.
