Thankyou TaylorSwift. I think Bute/Ward is still a 50/50 fight if Bute has a tune up. Ward isnt a massive puncher and I think in close Butes body shot could come into play. Remember Ward wanted no part of Bute and is probably quite relieved he has an excuse to say well I beat Froch who beat Bute, but Ward didnt want to know for a reason and he has had no problems fighting already beaten fighters so far
An interesting point maybe Consider that American and American based fighters and Canadian and Canadian based fighters dont seem to be able to win big fights at SMW when fighting in Europe. Consider how Lacy, Dirrell, J Taylor, Bute, Pascal, Mitchell, Brewer etc all were beaten in Europe In Europe Bute, Dirrell, Pascal, Andrade, Green, Lucas, Lacy, Manfredo, Pudwill, McIntyre, Jimenez, Sheika, Brewer, Mitchell, Schommer, Holmes, Close (I said based in America), Thornton, Essett, Jarvis, McClellan, Perez, Gatti (not Arturo), Tate, Butler, G Johnson, Hernandez, Bryan Lost in Europe This just gives an idea but do consider that out of those 28 fighters 21 were or became world rated in the division, and some fought more than once in Europe. European SMW fighters fighting away from home have had better success but still lost away a few times, but not anywhere near as much. It does look like being at home has some advantages
There was a decent Romanian contingent there making a lot of noise though. Any time Froch caught him he looked hurt. I just don't think he could take Froch's power.
Yes Bute had alot of fans, but the Froch crowd was far greater. I agree I dont think Bute could take Frochs power, but I wondered if he was suffering with nerves, would he have been caught as often and boxed more his usual way on the back foot and landing combinations and getting in and out. I wonder if it all got to Bute and made him think he had to go out there and put on a show
There's NO excuse when you lose in front of a limited skill fighter like Froch. Froch throws his punches very weird and bizarre for a pro boxer , not to mention about his poor-rudimentary footwork and body movement almost non existing. With al these flaws Froch succeeded to school Bute , who has good speed, footwork, body movement, good 1 K.O punch power , inteligence and besides that he's a southpaw . I know that he has great chin , brave heart and heavy hands but also guys like Sakio Bika and Glen Johnson have. I can't explain to myself how a guy with such good athleticism lost in front of a wide and slow guy like Froch. :think I remember that Bute took hard shots from Bika and he didn't wobble / was so staggered . Maybe Froch has hammer fists , maybe Bute overtrained for this fight , maybe making the weight category limit badly diminished his strengths or maybe ...... etc
Most who predicted a Bute win really underestimated Froch's toughness. I saw so many predictions of a ko. I was like man yall are crazy. It happens
Yeah I was shocked for the same reasons. Which is why I think nerves played a big part and the interesting point made about overtraining. I dont think Froch would be denied on this night and feel that is alot to do with Bute fighting away from home and the possible nerves thought. Really the only time before Froch that I can recall Bute being hit square on and flush was by Andrade. Bute has been good enough not to take solid shots most of the time
only the rematch will show us if Bute made some tactical mistakes and lost because of them or that he isnt a top smw.
Yeah I predicted Bute, because as much as I like Froch, he seems to give fights away at times with lazyness when he could do more. He looked lucky years ago against Adamu, and if he worked more he would be harder to beat. I felt Froch could have got rid of Kessler in the 5th round when I felt Kessler was in a fog, but Froch just stepped off, something he has done alot in his career. Against Bute it was a different Froch who worked harder and it paid off. If Froch fought like that with that intensity all of the time I think he would have possibly beaten Kessler and Ward, but he didnt and has himself to blame for that. Froch without a title as a challenger is a different animal to the one that can be lazy defending. Look at how he looked against Pascal, Abraham and Bute compared to the lacklustre performances when a champ
Even if Bute was to lose again to Froch, he is still a top SMW, just not the very best. Froch may just be all wrong for Bute, but I wouldnt bet against Bute if he fought Ward, which I think is a 50/50 fight, as Ward doesnt have Frochs power and in close Butes body shot could come into play. Ward avoided Bute for a reason
fighting overseas don't play a major excuse when you lose so badly and when you're a pro boxer and you had some decent fights in your career with top ten opponents even if these fights were in your hometown. Besides that Bute chosen to fight in Froch's backyard , he was willing to travel. Anyway the rematch will show , what type of fighter is Bute !
indeed , maybe against fighters like Ward, Dawson or Andre Dirrell , Bute would do a competitive fight but against fighters like Froch , Kessler or Pascal would look fragile and too vulnerable. Still I can't understand how a slow and wide guy like Froch who hits so bizarre and has poor skills beat an athletic guy like Bute ?! P.S Bute's chin is decent , no glass or china but i'm agree that his inside game is poor . He doesn't know to pick a shot , duck shots when he's in close range or get out when he's in the ropes .
Totally agreed i also stated that as well, just because Froch Kod Bute, and Ward schooled Froch, doesnt automatically equate to a Ward win against Bute. Ward/Bute would be a more competitive affair. Froch kos Bute 10/10 and Ward schools Froch 10/10.
