Or did he just lose his legs?

I actually wondered this the day of the fight.

He was clearly conscious, and crawled around the ring a bit while being counted out.

There could be different reasons for this-

Could he have felt too much guilt from the blatant headbutt (thus the superfluous amounts of hugging) and resigned himself to stay down out of shame?

Or possibly to take the heat off of him after the crowd had just been booing him?

Or maybe he thought it was possible to win by DQ?

Or maybe he was getting owned so bad that he thought this isnt as bad a way to lose?

Or maybe it was a FIX?? (hint hint aztecas)

    Thoughts?

I've said it before: I think Ortiz basically took a dive.

I think the whole thing was a setup, which also explains the head butt, the ref screwing up, the fighters' reactions & statements afterwards, everything ....

To me Ortiz looked hurt and his legs were gone. Floyd did put some pop on that right hand and you can even see it in his face that he meant business when he threw it. I think Ortiz was clearly hurt and we he did finally stand up his legs were gone.

I remember people saying Calzaghe-Jones was fixed

Cortiz made a **** up and called time in and looked away then Ortiz got decked by the legal cheap shot and by the time he realised what was going on he was like

If anything Ortiz got over excited with how much success he was having and lost his head, he was walking through mayweathers shots for the most part and landing solid ones of his own. It would have been a very interesting fight over 12 rounds

It's the punches you don't see that hurts you :) He didn't see that coming.

ESB logic: Getting knocked out= Quitting.
Seriously, Ortiz was hit with power punches he didn't expect, of course he was done..

HE mentally melted down, first he headbutted like a madman, then he was all lets kiss and make up and hugging instead of protecting himself. Allowing Floyd to take that shot was as good as quiting

    ORTIZ took a dive.

Watch the KO again.... there's a 2 second timespan where Joe Cortez is just looking into space and the expression on his face - mouth just suspended in motion and you can see him thinking "Jesus ****ing Christ, guys - hurry up!". Joey already deducted a point. Why would he call time in and then remind the judges AGAIN to deduct a point?

It’s a pretty stupid thing to imply,
    that Ortiz took a dive.
Nah son, the fight was still young,
and there was nothing May had done,
to make Ortiz jump the gun,
    and do a kamika’zee
    like a straight up puss’ssee

Now before y’all get it twisted
Let me tell you like my man Steward did,
that the young hungry young lion, was just dyin’
to impress, like a blonde with big breasts,
pressing his head in his chest without much success,
losing his cool and looking like a fool,
the fight ended like he’d been hit with a bar stool

Have you gave it some thought that his head bouncing off the canvas may have left him wobbled.
Because clearly it wasn't Floyd's two free sucker punches!!!

Didn't look as if he quit to me....over apologetic? Yes
    Quit? No

Especially after having his best round of the fight when he began to employ their strategy according to his team!!!
