The only debate is whether Quittor Ortiz's glass heart or glass jaw got shattered first. My opinion is that he was getting dominated by a man 10 years older than him, he knew he was gonna lose his title, therefore he was looking for a way out. His glass heart got shattered, then Money May shattered his glass jaw.

Once again I have to educate people on these forums. Let's say ortiz was having his best round of the fight, you think that mayweather wouldn't have worked out what he was doing and figured him out. Floyd is the master at figuring out opponents, boxing is 90 percent mental and ortiz is a mental midgit.

Cotto could also have a good round or two in the may 5th fight but watch how quick floyd adapts to what his opponent is doing. Then it night night.

The thread was not about mayweather or Cotto!!!

The question was " did Ortiz quit against Mayweather"?

Flamin *****s can't seem to not avoid any opportunity to drop on their knees for Floyd!!!

if that strategy was hitting floyd's elbows while taking clean right hands to the face over and over, yeah, they had that down cold

Good point and I'm not saying Ortiz was overwhelmingly efficacious with the strategy they brought...
According to them that is how they were rolling and they seemed pleased with it!!!

I think Ortiz mentally checked out of the fight after pulling the headbutt, and he wasn't exactly broken up after getting stopped so I'd qualify that as quitting. The guy didn't show the heart he had against Berto and looked like he was perfectly content to get his payday.

It's definately a plausible theory that he was looking for a way out of the fight. Him quitting against Maidana throws a bit of validity into such a theory.

The headbutt he threw was DQ worthy, had it actually made flush contact it could well have done some horrific damage. I think he might actually have been looking for a DQ as a pose to beating beaten like he was for the 3/4 rounds prior to the KO ,for another 8 rounds. Floyd came out faster and more aggressive than he usually does, and it might well have broken Ortiz' heart earlier than anticipated

Yeah he quit. He tried to intentionally find a way out once his eye started swelling. Why else would you jump up to butt someone? To damage them and hope that they let either let the fight go, or be disqualified. He wanted to cut or swell Floyd up and hope that he could further the damage. A *** for you.

He was legitimately on ***** street. You could see he had the glassy, where the **** am I look on his face. He wasn't knocled unconscious, but he had a concussion.

being punched when you're not expecting it, prepared for it or haven't seen it coming hurts 10x worse than a punch you saw coming, hence why ortiz was knocked the **** out. a dive? lol, no he was hit so hard that it robbed him of all his senses, that was plain as day if you watch it back.

He likely thought Floyd would be DQ'ed or the fight will be ruled an NC for Floyd throwing them sucker punches. Turned out the sucker punches were legal.
