i mean come on.......alll the prep and then this happens....i don't like oscar but he's no dummy...i think he threw the fight to set up the next fight ......he is alredy headed to the hof....his legacy is set nd now he's gready for more money
think about it...if oscar won....that means less money for the next fight..
if pac wins that means he can become the next big draw...since he beat the golden boy
so....if the next fight by pac is promoted by dlh ....this will prove the theory...i'm not the only one who thinks this and didn't pbf have his next fight after dlh promoted by golden boy?

    correct me if im wrong

you're wrong.. DLH losing may force him to retire. how can he make more money? If he wins, he can make Millions in a mega match vs Hatton or possibly a PBF out of retirement fight.. but now, he won't be as big as a draw and won't get those huge fights. So no, he doesn't make more $$ by losing

You;re doing Pac a great injustice by saying Oscar threw the fight. Oscar may have been troubled by the weight, may have aged overnight but it was a truly exceptional performance by Pac.

I agree w/ Capri. At the very least there is a huge 'conflict of interest' here. Let's face it- going forward Pac is going to be DLH's meal ticket. It's in DLH's interest to hype Pac up as much as possible.

I say he threw it, looked as if he was actually focusing on not parrying Pac shots and returning fire, Oscar is a master at this and could easily have blocked 90% of the shots he was hit with. He was simply not throwing at all. Pac was not overwhelmingly quick or powerful.

I'll buy that. Think of who promotes Pacquiao's potential opponents, and Oscar stands to make a LOT more from promoting rather than fighting... Not saying I am convinced that the fix was in or whatever, but I definitely think it is a possibility. This whole thing has seemed fishy to me from the start.

EDIT--Also, correct me if I am wrong, as I am not 100%, but doesn't GBP get a percentage of Pac's fights due to the agreement w/Arum?

Ok, then it makes sense that, long-term, promoting is a far bigger moneymaker for DLH than fighting, and he just happens to own a piece of Pac AND two of the three fighters who will be absolute megafights. The only thing that makes me suspect it might not be a fix is the way Oscar lost, but I am reserving final judgement until after watching the fight.

I have said previously that if Oscar lost it meant the fix was in, and I still tend to believe it.

All that being said, Oscar and Pacquiao remain 2 of my favorite fighters, and I really, really want to say that Manny did it on his own, but this being boxing, I will probably always have the specter of the fix being in hanging in my mind when I think about this fight.

Do you honestly believe that Oscar needs to create elaborate schemes to make money?

So, basically what you guys are saying is, Oscar purposefully got the beating of his life so that he could...throw the fight (despite the aforementioed beating) in the hope that, sometime in the future perhaps, in some unspecified way, he can make money from promoting his opponent, who is actually with Bob Arum, because throwing the fight with Pac, makes Pac look good, despite the fact that he is already the P4P #1. :tired

Seriously, this thread is beyond ******ed.

First off, Oscar's promotional company gets a percentage of Pac, so yeah, directly he would make some money. Second, look at the biggest fights to be made in boxing 1. Pacquiao/Hatton, 2. Pacquiao/Mayweather and 3. Pacquaio/Marquez 3. Hatton and Marquez are both promoted by Oscar, and he stands to make more money long-term off of his promoting than his fighting. Again, I will reiterate that I am not 100% convinced the fix was in, but boxing is what it is, so I don't think I can ever discount the possibility that it was.
