Almost everyone expected Cal to dominate..... And you forgot to mention Cal got hit plenty whereas Pac put on a near flawless performance.
Many expected Cal to dominate (myself being one), but many did not, as I alluded to above. Here is a sample of some 'expert' opinions before the JC-RJJ fight: http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/boxing/blog/2008/11/predictions_on_the_joe_calzagh.html Cal got hit plenty and dropped with a forearm but he completely dismantled Roy in a way that even I didn't think was going to happen. The reason I compare the fights isn't because Joe's victory is anywhere near as great as Pac's; it isn't. Not even close. It's because of the domination factor and the greatness of the two guys who were beaten. Joe Calzaghe could have chosen to stop Roy at the end of the fight but he didn't want to do it. I'm not saying he would have put Roy down from a shot, but he could have flurried and put the pressure on and gotten the ref to step in. He didn't do that, didn't want to do that to Roy. And Pac seemed to be of a similar mindset during the 8th round last night, or at least parts of it. That's what this thread is about and that's partly why I brought up the JC/RJJ fight, much to Thunderdog's apparent consternation. It was the first fight that came to my mind of an instance where a guy was completely dominating the fight but he took his foot off the gas pedal a little bit probably out of respect for his opponent.
there was definetly a moment in the fight where manny stopped throwing punches, looked at oscar and gave him time after he hurt him. So yeah I seen it.
