I think it's fair to say Barrera was well on the slide by the time of their second fight but how was he rated at the time of their first? Prime or a fighter on the decline?
No he didn't i mean ... after those 3 fights of Barrera Morales none of both were in his prime against Pac-man... Its like izzy and Raffy trilogy after that they cant be in their prime anymore. Just my 2 Cent.s!!! IM NOT SAYING THEY WERE SHOT .... THEY WERE JUST NOT IN THEIR PRIME
Oh Christ here we go with the "he was almost shot" bull ****. Can you people just live with it when someone gets there ass handed to him. Get off his nutts! Prime or not Pac would of raped him any which way ...
It depends on who are asking. If it is Nallege and company, you know the answer. If it is Dapidran and company, you know the answer. But only one person really knows - Barrera.
The second was no question MAB is way past it. But the first fight . . . MAB was at his prime. He was the WBC Featherweight Champ and the Ring belt holder. He refused the WBC title after beating Morales few fights back. Infact . . . he still TKOed Ayala and beat Morales via MD after that loss to Pacquiao.
# 3 lb 4 lb and featherweight king at the time. What do you think? Hell yes He just beat hamed-morales-tapia-kelley before losing to pacman. After that he continue to win fights and won wbc and ibf super featherweight title.
Right from Marco Antonio Barrera's own website! Let's see 29 years old when he fought Pacquiao. 3 years 9 months since last loss (to Morales) before fighting Pacquiao. Then after losing to Pacquiao, 6 straight wins up to Sept. 16, 2006, beating Morales and Rocky Juarez (twice). Hell yeah I'd say he was still in his prime. Nothing below indicates that he wasn't. Only boxer not in his prime that night was Pacquiao- This content is protected http://www.marcobarrera.com/en/ This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected 09.16.06 Juarez, Rocky Las Vegas, NV Retained WBC Super Featherweight Title W-12 130 05.20.06 Juarez, Rocky Los Angeles, CA Retained WBC Super Featherweight Title W-12 130 09.17.05 Peden, Robbie Las Vegas, NV Won IBF & Retained WBC Super Featherweight Title W-12 130 04.09.05 Fana, Mzonke El Paso, TX Retained WBC Super Featherweight Title KO-2 130 11.27.04 Morales, Erik Las Vegas, NV Won WBC Super Featherweight Title W-12 130 06.19.04 Ayala, Paulie Carson, CA TKO-10 126 This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected 04.12.03 Kelley, Kevin Las Vegas, NV TKO-4 126 11.02.02 Tapia, Johnny Las Vegas, NV W-12 126 06.22.02 Morales, Erik Las Vegas, NV W-12 126 09.08.01 Sanchez, Enrique Reno, NV TKO-6 126 04.07.01 Hamed, Naseem Las Vegas, NV IBO Featherweight Title W-12 126 12.01.00 Salud, Jesus Las Vegas, NV Retained WBO Super Bantamweight Title TKO-6 122 09.09.00 Valbuena, Jose New Orleans, LA Retained WBO Super Bantamweight Title W-12 120 06.17.00 Freitas, Luis Mexico City, Mexico Retained WBO Super Bantamweight Title KO-1 122 This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected
It probably wasnt the very best Barrera that ever stepped into a ring but close enough to it to make no realistic difference.
Surely people can say that wasn't the best MAB because he was practically manhandled by an unknown Pacquiao (at that time).
Sorry dude Im not sure if you are agreeing with me or not. I reckon that Barrera was near as dammit Peak , maybe not absolute peak but so close to it as to make no real difference. Do you think differently ?
