MAB Morales III happened after the MAB Pac I
MAB was still prime and theres just something about pacs style and speed that he cant handle..i think he underestimated pac too

morales had a rematch clause during the second fight so even if, assuming pac wants to duck him, the latter cant do so without paying damages and penalties. so when morales decided to exercise the rematch clause (3rd fight) pac was contarctually bound to fight him. EM had this advantage because he just beat pac while JMM had no such advantage. I remember EMs camp convincing him to take another fight before going in against pac for a 3rd time

It was prime Barrera, but he wasnt peaked.

I completely believe him when he says he had a terrible training camp. He was in shape, but he wasn't sharp or tuned in, and Manny, who is a whirlwind, ran roughshod over him.

He was past his best in the rematch, but had a great and long training camp, and managed to post a decent showing in a decision loss.

I think that had Barrera had a good training camp and took Pacquiao seriously as the lethal opponent and p4p great we all know now he was, he would have won 3-4 rounds en route to a fun to watch loss.

Barrera I remains the best and greatest win for Pacquaio.

You don't manhandled a proven ATG champ just like that.

And please, stop with this prime issue.

Barrera was PRIME when he suffered his first loss to Pac.

IMO Lampley perfectly summed it up:

Pacquaio "annihilates, destroys... embarrasses the great Marco Antonio Barrera."

Change of topic. Is pacquiao prime right now? With his wars with Morales and Marquez, I think he's on the decline. Just what mexicans say that Morales was way past it when he fought Pac after his "war" with MAB. Count the fact that Pac just beat a supposed to be old fight ODLH and a head-fight Hatton.

This is going to be a good excuse come Nov 14. If Morales and MAB were way past it when they fought pac, then pac is where Morales and Mab were at that time, therefore Pac is on the decline.

A green Pac easily man handled a Prime MAB.

A prime Pac vs a Prime Barerra would look like Pac Vs Hatton.

for those of you mostly *******s who don't think a fighter being in his prime or not is not important you have no clue what you're talking about. of course it makes a big difference whether a fighter is in his prime. look at morales! morales may have only been 29 years old when he fought pacquiao the third time but he was absolutely a shot fighter. anyone who has seen morales in his prime and that third pacquiao fight can plainly see the difference. different fighters age differently in boxing.

styles of fighters are great indicators when fighters will burn out earlier or later. take a look at marquez, he's mostly been a counterpuncher most of his career and hasn't taken alot of punishment like morales did. it also depends on how well a fighter takes care of his body between fights. morales would balloon in weight between fights while marquez has always been a gym rat who is never in bad shape.

another type of fighter whose boxing longevity is predictable are brawlers like ricky hatton and juan diaz. typically, their styles create shortened careers because of their work rate. these fighters also tend to have average to poor defenses. their fights tend to last longer because of their lack of power.
