The way he moved was still impressive. I think the only reason he wasn't able to KD or KO Rios was because Rios had a tight defense. If he had charged at Pacquiao more than he was trying to block Pacquiao's punches, he would've hit the canvas. I almost feel like he is a Clottey 2.0 instead or Margarito 2.0.
It was just his first fight back.. At least he didn't freeze up like Roy Jones vs. G. Johnson... He has a few good fights left in him for sure.
Manny went 12 rounds EASY!!!!!!!!!!! He kicked Rios ass. Manny wasn't trying for the KO he wanted to give a message to Garcia & especially Ariza too. The only thing I would have liked to have seen was Manny get his hands on Ariza. He deserved the whuppin most of all. He kept out of the way like the coward he is. I always liked Robert Garcia but after the continual attempted baiting of Freddie Roach, which Garcia joined it & obviously condoned, then till he make a profound apology to Freddie I'm done with him. I think what it is is Garcia knows he can never be the great trainer Freddie is despite Freddie's illness, & that narks him.
Sounds like he's just declining like every other boxer does, he's past 30 and has been fighting bigger guys for a while now, whether fans want to admit it or not he's not prime anymore last night wasn't impressive because Rios is a smaller poor man's version of Margarito
I thought Pacquiao looked very good last night. He unleashed with furious combo's throughout and by about the forth round on his movement and offense completely shut down the majority of the offense Rios put forth. The fight went as I expected it resembled the Margartito- Pacquiao fight with Pacquiao facing a very durable but stationary opponent who only knows how to come forward and was an easy target and he basically peppered him with combinations throughout though Rios much like Margaritto did exact his own price throughout just couldn't slow down Pacquiao nearly enough to take advantage. I unlike many others didn't feel coming into this fight that Pacquiao was done his last two fights before hand he clearly beat Tim Bradley who is Pound for Pound one of the better fighters in the world and he had a very good competitive fight with Marquez another fighter ranked amongst the top 10-15 Pound for Pound fighters in the world and got caught with a picture perfect punch and knocked out which certainly can happen to almost any offensive fighter on any given night when a facing a very skilled and technical counter puncher like Marquez. Last night he proved hes still one of the better fighters in the world and certainly in his division, he can still unleash furious combinations throughout a tough twelve round fight against a very solid challenger and has foot work looked very good. He also kept mentally strong throughout the fight and looked good from 1-12.
The only impressive part was that he bounced back from a horrible KO, and he still has plenty of speed. And rios is of course a decent fighter. So in a broad, general sense, yes it was impressive. But if analyzed from an elite perspective, and relative to his prime and how it compares to the rest of the top tier fighters, no I wasn't impressed in that sense.

After being knocked out I thought he looked very good. Did he look like Oscar , Hatton , Cotto version. No but then who did???
He looked a diminished fighter then the relentless storm of before but his perofrmance showed he still can hang at elite level.
Robert does not owe that Focker anything!! Roach disrespected Robert and then started crying when Robert flipped him the same coin. You don't walk up to a man and then call him a piece of ****, because no one bending down to kiss the great roach ass!! Fock him. The only message Pac sent last night was that he was not KOing anyone last night not in 2 rounds not in 4 rounds. Pac's only advantage last night was his speed and his south paw stance, against legitimate young fighters at 140 and 147 this may not be enough. We all knew Rios is a come forward fighter, who wins fights by pounding his guy into submission, and his lack of hand, foot speed and technical expertise would be a huge factor in this fight. Let Hope that pac get a fight with Floyd and then gets out the fight game before he get seriously hurt. The Pac that fought last night looked against a very limit opponent but lets face it pac is not a defensive fighter and that style will only get him KOed AGAIN, against better quality opponents !!
Very impressed by Pac last night, sure there'll be haters who come up with **** about his opponent being cherry picked or that he didn't score KO or got hit too much but i watched Pac carefully and thought he looked as good as he has in many years from a defensive point of view. If Pac boxed like he did against Rios last night, he would beat Marquez and Bradley comfortably in rematches. Pac fighting in a more defensive careful way is a pretty unbeatable fighter, unfortantely against Marquez and Bradley(even though he clearly won 1st fight) he had the tendency to lunge in wildly and stay in the pocket too long but i liked his much more controlled approach last night which was to be in and out of range.
You're kidding right? Robert purposely overstayed at the gym to get under Freddie's skin. Robert was clearly asking for it.
yeah.. he did. definitely, Rios came in huge thinking he can outmuscle manny and bully him. he did but manny was too wise he held rios right arm when he tried to. considerng a winless 2012, it was very impressive.. not a lot of fighters can bounce back from that especially when you have achieved a lot in the sport and nothing else to prove. a true ATG of our time..
