Parker talks up his chin but he never risked walking through fire to get to Joshua. That is what he had to risk to have a shot. So I say survival.
He looked nervous throughout the first half of the fight to me. Had that burst in the middle rounds, but if memory serves me right, Joshua caught him with a left-hand and he seemed to go back into his shell. I wouldn't say he fought to survive, but he didn't fight the way he needed to in order to win. I can only assume he was expecting Joshua to gas and he could start to pile it on him. Got it all wrong.
This was a very high level fight, skill wise. When Parker pressed the action he looked dangerous, but can you blame a guy for fighting on the backfoot against a jab like that with that follow up 2-3? If he could fight like in rounds 5-6 for three or four more rounds he would have been in it and might have hurt him too as AJ looked to respect the power. But all things considered there was nothing wrong with the effort. From what I saw tonight this is the number 1 and 2 heavyweights in the world.
He fought to survive but as a fellow belt holder he should of got more respect than 11-1 10-2 scores. Personally neither guy did anything. Both were afraid to take chances. A stinker should of been a draw.
I wouldn't say he ran. He was obviously trying to make Joshua miss and counter. Joshua was just happy to sit behind the jab.
As awkward and gangly as Wilder is, he's definitely not afraid to throw bombs any chance he gets. Should make for an exciting fight.
I think he started well, but got to content with his work and cruised to a UD loss. I scored it 116-112 for Joshua, but really felt that Parker could have made it closer with just a little more effort. Then again, Joshua is a very crisp counter puncher which surely affected Parkers momentum. A little gutted actually, even though I predicted a Joshua UD. Felt like Parker lost it more than Joshua winning it.
Parker didn't believe in himself so much. He didn't step on the ring with the absolue idea to win no matter what. If he wanted to risk - he could've went on the inside.
