No read the posts!! After this win he is now also a smarter fighter than joe calzaghe! Did you not see all the changes he makes in his fights, he never gets hit and can only be beaten by kyrptonite!

I like Kelly Pavlik a lot.
He hits hard and has a pleasing style but the fact of the matter is that Lockett had NO business being in the same ring.

Calzaghe has struggled to put away shitty fighters for one reason or another but raises his game time and time again when it is needed.
Pavlik puts away people no denying that...but a level of realism is needed.

Calzaghe is a much more talented boxer, he will not be there to be hit like Lockett though.
He will box circles around Pavlik and toy with him.

Unfortunatly though he will probably get little credit for doing so as the Pavlik fans will desert just like the Lacey ones.

 

No, Haye is a whole different proposition .. he would KO Enzo and you could throw Joe in the ring simultaneously and watch him get KO'd as well

Haye is too much for Pavlik ...

Haye shows the most promise since Lennox .. should stay at cruiser and dominate .. but he deserves credit for wanting a greater challenge (of course it is for the money) unlike guys who avoid top comp and hide in one unpopular div for a career

 

Pavlik hasn't had a fight where's been force to adapt. Taylor had him almost KTFO and he basically came back with the same fight plan he used before the knock down and steam rolled Taylor.

Sorry, but Pavlik is elite. If JC beating Hopkins makes him a shoo-in ATG, then what does that make Pavlik (who beat Taylor 2x who beat Hopkins 2x), a B level journeyman?

 

pavlik reminds me of mclellan,but without the footwork and movement.

the long straight concussive punches. I like everything about pavlik, inside and outside of the ring. Hes great for boxing.

Some of you Brits have the biggest double standards for your boxers. I remember you guys trying to find the all kinds of reason to justify Calzaghe fighting Manfredo. And then you say Lockett had no business being in the same ring.

Pavlik fans will not desert him. Pavlik is no Jeff Lacey.

 

Difference is though you wouldnt find us in a circle jerk about his win.

 

I have been a calzaghe fan for years, but if you say lockett had no right to be in the ring with pavlik, then you could say the same for calzaghe. He spent years fighting the likes of starie, ashira, pudwill, etc. He fought his fair share of bums.

i dont think calzaghe would box circles around pavlik, he couldnt do it to 43 year old hopkins, and pavlik wont stop coming. he hits much harder than hopkins who knocked joe down, has more stamina and hunger, and if the calzaghe that turned up against hopkins was to fight pavlik, he would lose.

 

Large parts of his entire career have been a circle jerk. It's as if anyone is calling him GOAT. Hell, no one has said antyhing besides the reasonable belief that he would defeat Calzaghe. If anything, it is you who is giving credit where it's due. Box circles around Pavlik and toy with him. Give me a break.

Well, notwithstanding how rather pedestrian Enzo is don't you think we should allow Pavlik to weigh as much or is the comparison between Enzo at cruiser versus Pavlik at middle?

As I said, Calzaghe had struggled to put away his lesser competition at times. I was also pissed at Calzaghe when he was fighting these guys.
The last 3 years or so though he has stepped up his game so he deserves credit.

Could you name one fighter that has boxed circles around Hopkins?
Pavliks power is irrelevant as he wont be landing like he normally does.

Cant wait to see the fight, it has to happen!
