I wouldnt say Nigel benn had a padded record. That may well have influenced his avoidance be so called "Real" fighters.
just want to see the fight really - Im not a hardcore fan but want to have some good entertainment when im watching the fight with the lads and always better when it is a seemingly 'meaningful' fight. Calzaghe might be on the downslide now due to age but if he fights this guy then win or lose it seems like a good ending cos i cant see it being like the hopkins fight which was unsatisfying for both fighters to say the least. To me its either Calzaghe being knocked out or putting on a boxing masterclass - just cant see it being a close thing either way - which is a good thing. Just wish the fights that people want to see and make sense for the sport (and not just the fighter's wallets) happen. Me and my drunken mates need this fight.
If Pavlik wants Calzaghe what are the chances really of him going up in weight and coming over to challenge him in the UK?. Both Calzaghe and HAtton had to move up in weight and fight in oppenents home country, would Pavlik and his management honestly fancy doing that,I dont think so.
personally i think hopkins would of totally nullified pavlik if they fought (even the hopkins of now) hes way too smart to get hit with pavs straight shots and would smother him and counter him, same with joe cal hes too fast to be there for pav to hit, he aint no sitting duck like lockett.......oh some one mentioned lockett and calzaghe fight with the same style...........:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl atsch atsch
Today no one in Europe still doesn't know who Pavlik is and there is just as much money to be made in Europe nowadays maybe more.
The hype starting to build up around Pavlik sounds very very familar. http://www.thesweetscience.com/boxing-article/3430/lacy-calzaghe-fight-predictions/
computibox dont lie.calzaghe won easy over hopkins dude.it dont matter how it looked through your eyes.
Did you see the after fight interview with kellerman? Pavlik clearly stated he lets his manager/promoter set up the fights and he just takes them. Dont matter who they put him up against he will fight them. He does not go after all the big fights himself only if his management want to. Kellerman criticized him for this.
