I can get someone saying the fight was a draw, in truth no man really WON or significantly got the better of the other, but landing the odd jab and dancing during the fight away and focusing on defense doesn't warrant a victory for pernell. Not when oscar was landing some hard shots and definitely landed the more effective punches, and came forward showing he wanted the fight more. Pernell really threw the 12th round away also and really seemed like he just wanted the bell to sound and survive, opposed to going out there and showing the judges he wanted to win, as Oscar did.
He made oscar miss alot, sure, but oscar did still land more power shots and had Pernell hurt a couple times. With that rationale, no way I can give pernell that fight.

Everyone ignore this troll. He chimes in every Oscar thread and will always give credit to whoever oscar's opponent was and take credit away from oscar. Please disregard his posts.:deal

His eyelid was swollen by an uppercut in the second. Let's not act as if he was tatooing him all night. De La Hoya missed most of what he threw and his aggression was very ineffective.

    Oscar

It was kind of a boring fight, very ineffective for both men. Thought Oscar just did more, his punches seemed more meaningful

it kind of reminded me of a welterweight Hopkins vs Calzaghe fight

Whitaker clowned to much and didnt do enough he kind of let the fight slip away is how I remember it from my last viewing

    wouldnt argue either way though

No way whitaker won that fight. No way.

It was close, but Oscar was the rightful victor.

    Oscar gave that **** away.

Trinidad looked lost out there for most of the fight.

This is common boxing knowledge. Oscar did that to himself.

Only if it lands clean. Oscar couldn't hit Pea with a handful of rice that night. I'm exaggerating as it was a close fight. But Oscar barely landed, my friend.
