I've always found this one very hard to believe. Ramirez fought much better against much better fighters than Mancini. He stopped Rosario, stopped Boza Edwards, lost a razor thin decision to Arguello and on and on but loses a wide decision to Mancini? Watch the fight and Jose looks like he's sleepwalking. I'm pretty sure he took a dive to bump up Rays record.

    hmmmm

Accusations of an Italian American boxer benefiting from a fixed fight with absolutely no evidence or forethought.

Hegrant, how the hell are you? Good to see your hatred of Italians has not faded.

Boza-Edwards was probably better than Mancini p4p (though h2h, most I think would agree that Mancini would just be too much for him physically as he was more of a natural lightweight), but "much" better? :think

I'm not sure Chapo is "much better" either.

Ramirez needed room to punch to be effective. Mancini didn't give it to him. Credit the winner for executing a good fight plan, and chalk it up to styles. No huge mystery here.

I also don't know on what anyone would base the idea that Boza (whom I'm also a fan of, actually) was better than Mancini. Which fights highlight this superiority?

    Or Rosario, for that matter.

I think Boza was better. Limon, Chacon I & II.

Eh, but he also had as many downs as ups. And he did have to go life and death in all three of those fights you mentioned, losing one of them.

I love the guy too, and think he was quite good; I just personally see no reason to rate him above someone like Mancini.

    Yes, but "much"?

As in, Mancini beating someone that Boza Edwards lost to somehow defies all logic even when factoring in "styles make fights" because they're so extraordinarily far apart in class? :huh

I think calling Boza-Edwards (and even Rosario) better than Mancini is reasonable, but to modify that with "much" or feign incredulity that someone who beat them both could possibly lose to Mancini? That's a bit silly.

Other than to pose as some sort of historian, he grant's whole purpose on this forum is to make unfound accusations against Italian descended boxers. This won't be the first or last time, carry on.

Chapo would have crushed Mancini in a few rounds ... Ray's management never would make that fight ..

Who's the best fighter Mancini beat or even fought competitively against ? Compare that to Ramirez who stood toe to toe w Rosario, Boza and Arguello ..
