Ok lets bear in mind Rashad's opponent , ok it was a shot Tito ............

That said , his physique looked excellent , his hands all round sharper and technically better , his movement looked explosive and precise , he just looked like an all round more polished version of Rashad Evans

    Can he test Jones ??

    If so how ??

    Ummm...ok Hamza....

Any way, I dont think Jones has faced that sort of footwork and movement before. Evans also has excellent reach knowledge, making it a bit more difficult for JJ to close the distance. But I see things going Jones way when he does, and of course I dont think Rashad has faced the kind of reach knowledge that Jones possess either. I see this kinda being like the FG v RE fight, Forrest was dictating that fight at range, but Evans speed helped him find his target and close the show with the kod. He also looks to have been a bit more aggressive with his strikes, but I think that will be a different story in the Jones fight, as Tito is slow and had no choice but to cover up, dont think he'll get JJ with his back to the cage

Also impressed with his ground work last night. Past his sell by or not, being on the ground with Tito is no joke

Ive gotta say this , i would of ****in loved to have been a fly on the wall in camp Jackson to see who emerged better off in the wrestling exchanges between these two , as i beleive that there lies the key to winning the fight .

If Jones fights at length , doesnt over commit , and fights in short sharp explosion's of stand up , sprawl and brawl type tactic but looking to punish every opening Rashad gives him with combinations of boxing and muay thai, i dont see Rashad making a dent in him at all TBH , Rashad will be left with no option but to shoot in on Jones eventually , and IMHO as good a grappler as he is (in wrestling terms more than JJ) i dont think he's surviving Jones's top game , once Jones has sprawled out and got a hold of Rashad .

Ultimatley , how does Jones pin down a fighter so athletically gifted and as fast as Evans , there arent many 205'ers who move like Rashad , how do you keep a guy like that at length without commiting to hurting him ??? , and is Evans's top game good enough to control Jones and inflict some damage , what is Jones JJ like off his back , what is his conditioning like when having to sweep and stand up from 2 or 3 consecutive TD's , does Evans have the cardio to relentlessly control Jones for long periods in a round ???

Gonna be a good one this ...............

All ofcourse if Rampage doesnt spoil the party

Rashad's sense of range is still shitty, he doesn't have a good jab at all, and all of that footwork isn't so much economical and good as it is "active" but his combination punching and willingness to engage and finish has improved. Jones picks much better angles, a better jab, massive reach advantage, massive leverage advantage in the clinch, better kicks, better wrestling, and an overall size and strength advantage.

If you want to know how Rashad fares in this one watch the first part of his bout with Forrest. The only thing that Forrest has in common with Jones is his long jab (not even in the same league as Jones'), height, and constant kick output and it gave the shorter Rashad hell before he got the takedown and KOed him. Also, Forrest has no power and was able to hurt Rashad at least twice. Jones has big power and is almost guaranteed to stop Rashad because the guy just can't win a fight without a bad moment or two and Jones stops you when you have a bad moment.

Yeah I see it like the Forrest fight to, but his hand speed is a factor. Just dont see Evans having the durability to eat a few shots to land one and make it tell

That's exactly what it comes down to. If you're going to be a shorter fighter that has to work your way inside of an out-fighter like Jones, you have to have a good Chin and I think everyone can agree that Rashad most decidedly doesn't have that.

I'm not going to be at all surprised if one of those telephone pole jabs rocks him, in fact.:rofl

Jones outwrestles Rashad badly and Rashad better not strike with him seeing that Tito can land short left hooks. Forget the size, height and the length differential.

Again, it would be one of the biggest upsets in MMA history just because Rashad just isnt that good (or near the level).

THe UFC needs to stop selling these fighters as somewhat credible opponents but at the same time I can see why Danas doing it. I mean hearing Rogan last night talk about the second coming of Rashad lol.

Here we are watching a PPV event with Tito (love the guy but hes finished 5 years ago) vs. Rashad (who couldnt even give Lyoto a good fight) The same Lyoto who was proven to be not so elusive by Rua who won .05 seconds against Jones. But I guess that as long as people are buying PPVs thell keep feeding it.

I know MMA math doesn't always work but this pretty much is basic common sense.

BTW Vitor looked like a monster last night, hes one of my favorite but lets not forget that he almost died against Anderson. The UFCs problem is they have the champions at WW, LHW, MW and theres a huge gap. But rather than pitting champion against champion and take that risk, Dana and co. is going to keep selling us the Forrest Griffins of the world as the next contender should he beat Rua.

When he's rocked his 1st instinct is to clinch. Not a bad move, but something I would attempt with Jones.

He needs and will stay on the outside, probably eat a shot doing one of his little feints, then well see how good his ground game is. I think Jones will get the job done in 2

You make this sound like this is a boxing bout

Evans has one of the best counter shots in MMA (thats wrestling shots :D) and no matter how good a wrestler you beleive you are , or how effective your JJ is off your back , you do not want a wrestler of Rashad's calibre shooting and landing a clean TD on you .

Evans doesnt have to do anything of the sort , he has 5 rounds of 5 mins to land one single counter shot on Jones (strike) that can end the fight , or at least sway the fight in his direction , he doenst have to work his way inside at all , and wont !!! , he will stay elusive , light on his feet and look to counter shoot and counter strike Jones not the other way round

I do beleive that your right about the gap between champions , and the fact we should be seeing Pride style superfights like :

    Aldo - Cruz
    Edgar / Maynard - Aldo
    Silva - GSP
    Silva - Jones
    Silva - Shogun
    Silva - Rampage
    Velasquez - Jones
    dos Santos - Jones

And the likes , but i think to right off a fighter of Evans calibre as a hyped up bum , which is practically what your doing is in accurate and unfair

Precisely those matchups, and no Rashads not and no one really is a bum at this level. The problem is simply the gap. Its like Marquardt being a good fighter and Nick Diaz but realistically where do these guys go? Meanwhile nearly a decade ago, with both the UFC and Pride, Hendo vs. Wand was a toss up and Franklin vs. Tanner was intriguing. Its just so predictable now and it can be that we lack real young prospects like Rory Mc or given time, guys like Silva and GSP eventually rose as cream of teh crop.

    This is quite laughable.

Jones is unproven. Do I think he'll beat Rashad? Yeah. But let's actually see the fight before we dismiss it. This exactly the same nonsense we had before Machida-Shogun I

Lots of people picked Shogun. Hes at the time arguably the greatest LHW of all time.

    How is Jones unproven?
