First of all I'd like to see the argument for Shogun being the great lhwt of all time.

And Jones is unproven when you start comparing him to Silva or St. Pierre. He's a worthy champion - I predicted him to defeat Shogun - but to claim he's an unstoppable champion that the only plausible challenge is Velasquez or Silva is absurd.

Let's see what Rampage, Machida, Evans, Griffin or Henderson do against him. Hell by those times have cycled themselves out of title contention the likes of Phil Davis or Alexander Gustafsson may be ready.

    You didn't.

But to be fair, only around 4 out of 17 did Shogun in that fight. I was one of the few. I'm sure I took him against Jones too, so I'm not claiming perfection.

Chimba, you may have meant lots of people picked Shogun over Jones. My apologies if that is what you meant.

As for teh Machida fight, I really thought MAchida had the style but I didnt expect Shogun to outpatient him in that fight. But there was alot of people picking Shogun and yes many think of him as the best fighter in the world at one time, not just MW.

That number is skewed because most guys like Popkins or butcher probably didnt pick.

The Jones fight I know many people picked Rua but I thought many did against Machida too.

Butcher was one of those 4. I don't think Popkins was hanging out in this forum back then.

Not for the first fight. Hardly anybody did. People were openly mocking the UFC for pushing Shogun as a challenger. Only the likes of Bas Rutten were explaining how Shogun could win.

As with most fights that have tons of hype and trash talk, Evans/Jones would be a boring fight. Neither guy will want to get KTFO after all the **** talk, so they'll be cautious and the fight will end up going to the guy who's better in the clinch (Jones) or takedowns( Jones from the clinch, Evans from a shot). Jones will probably grind it out, they'll admit after the fight that they're still best pals and everyone will be disappointed.

This could be a possibility. But in the case they really hate each other now, Rashad gets creamed. And I like Rashad, hes trying really hard to look bad ass but hes a real nice guy.

And again, the UFC is all about deception when it comes to PPV matchups. How many of these so called great match-ups turned out to be one sided affair? Zuffas arent going to minimize anyone as obvious as it is because they have to sell tickets. Case in point last night if you saw the Rivera vs. Philipou fight. It was atrocious and even Philipou said in the post fight it was horrible and Rogan had to be quick and diffuse it and say it was a great fight:lol:

Jones has finished his last 6 opponents straight and only has 2 decisions on his record. The first strike he threw against Shogun was a flying knee. Of course neither fighter wants to get KOd but Jones fights aggressively, I see no reason to predict this outcome.

Er...no. Oh wait...I get...I'm a UFC shill. That's why I'm saying we should wait before anointing a new UFC Champion as an unstoppable killing machine. What a Zuffa nuthugger I am.

Oh wait...that makes no ****ing sense you drooling, brainless cretin.

And seriously after St. Pierre-Serra I and Machida-Shogun I, plus fights like Penn-Edgar I Jackson-Griffin, Hughes-Penn the idea that not jumping to a conclusions about fights is evidence of an 'agenda' rather than common sense is so ****ing stupid its beyond words.

Evans is up against a strong wrestler, with great reach knowledge who knows how to close the distance and can finish fights

Now Im all for the wait and see attitude in regards to someone like Jones, but on paper he is all wrong for Rashads passive, countering style

I quite clearly said I expect him to win but was responding to the point that the fight shouldn't take place because Jones' has proven he's so far ahead of Evans that its laughable to put them in the cage. He hasn't and it isn't.
