Very close fight, the decision was literally up one way or another, thought Mercer may have gotten the nod as he was the fighter on home soil but it really was too close to call, i personally scored it a draw....

One of my favourite Lewis fights. He stood his ground and traded with Mercer, you got to see his full a.rsenal here as he was made to fight.

It was close but I had Lewis winning by 2 rounds. Mercer simply didn't throw enough he gave away too many rounds by fighting in spurts. Lewis' more consistent work rate is what swung it for him on my scorecard.

Interesting stat, Mercer out jabbed Lewis landing 60% of his jabs, but Lewis out landed Mercer in power punches landing 60% of his power punches. Who would have thought that prior to the fight.

Lewis by a couple of rounds.

It was a phone booth fight because Don King changed the ring size to Mercer's advantage.

I think Holyfield struggled more than Lewis with Mercer, to me he was down until the knockdown.

No - cue the fanatical Lewis detractors to claim he lost handily and is terrible, a fraud, overrated etc.

Fact is he's a formidable h2h opponent for any fighter from any era and in all likelihood beats all on them if on top form.

Yes the ring was tiny in that fight, Lewis had no room to move. When you compare it to the the 22ft ring Wlad always fights in you can see a clear difference. It's hard to keep and opponent at range when you only need to take a couple of steps back and be pinned on the ropes.

I think this fight really helped Lewis, having to tough it out and getting the victory.
