He had the ability but not the discipline. He started relying way too much on that left upper to the point he was telegraphing it and basically just relying on that and that only

He showed great championship quality in some fights, but overall I don't think he was good enough to be a world champion in any era, maybe a belt holder like in his time some pretenders who carried belts like Morrison, Bentt, Hide and Damiani. He was as good as if not better than some of them. A great contender.

You don't think he would've knocked out Leon Spinks?

Yeah he could of beatin Leon Spinks, but would you consider Ruddock better than every heavyweight in 1978?

He had a real good jab and right hand, not sure why he decided to over-rely on the one punch everyone expected lol.

He couldn't have got past Bowe and Holyfield imo. Even the Tyson Ruddock wouldn't have made it (neither would have Tyson imo, not the post-Douglas Mike anyway).

Perhaps in a different era he might won the title or at least a title fragment but not against that early nineties crew unless he landed in the ring with Douglas on the night that Holyfield did

Who of the last champions could he beat?
    Fury
    Wilder
    Joshua
    Ruiz jr
    Parker
    Stiverne
    Parker
    ????
I pick razor over Stiverne, close fights with the rest except Fury

Yeah I’d definitely pick wilder and fury to beat him.

In the right frame of mind I think he could beat anyone on that list.

Depends if he decides to mix things up more, rely on the jab. He did have a very good jab, he just kind of abandoned it...I think after Dokes.

Had he used his jab far more in both Tyson fights, things would have been closer imo.

The Ruddock described above would have beaten all those guys on the above list except Fury imo.

Agree on all accounts except one. I personally find Fury very overrated. I think a focused RR can take him
