Did Ricky Hatton use an American style of boxing?

    The thread is about Hatton. And I'm not saying it was all his fault but his fight Tszyu was tough to watch. So much holding. I

    he tried with Maywether Sr. but in all honesty Ricky was getting tore up by lara and other sparring partners in training, he was a good fighter nothng more nothing less and when allowed to maul and wrestle and hold in his home court he could be formidable but at the elite great level well you saw the Pac fight.

    This is very interesting. I wonder if he watched the trainers of fighters like Ruiz, Ward and Hopkins?

    Didn't he basically try to emulate Benn?
    I wouldn't say holding was a particularly American thing.

    lol. I can't remember exactly who the trainers were was now as it was a long time ago I read it. However, I'm pretty sure some of them were the big players, like Emanuel Steward and company.

    How is his style American at all?

    Hatton's style is to wrestle, rabbit punch, get hit square in the face from straight punches.

    He lost to the only three fighters he ever faced, and one was well past prime (Tsyzu).
