Very true Honestly, with Robinson and Leonard bearing the name, I would have to say YES you should earn it.... no one calls just anyone your airness in basketball--- because that name belonged to Jordan the same way #23 isn't just easily worn in bball.....
Not the greatest.. But clearly one of the best at what he did.... Legit statement made by the poster, stop smacking your head.
Its not a legit statement, its a fraudulent statement by a poster who is lacking in knowledge about the sport of boxing.
Roy Jones arguably had the best lead left hook of all time.. Roy Jones arguably had the best lead right of all time... Roy Jones was arguably the best counter puncher of all time... Roy Jones arguably had the best reflexes of all time. Roy Jones arguably had the best combinations of all time.. Roy Jones arguably was the fastest fighter in all 4 weight classes he fought in... There are plenty of fighters not as good as Roy, but are Greater, due to quality wins.. Best and Great are different... Saying Roy is one of the best is fine with me.
I am the biggest Roy fan of anyone... but I don't consider him the GOAT in any weight he fought in... H2H maybe, but he doesn't have enough great wins in any weight class to be considered the greatest.. Calzaghe owns SMW on longevity alone, though Roy has the best win in the history of the weight... I do consider Roy the best fighter of all time... but not the greatest... Many fighters not as good as Roy did greater things, and .. But Roy was the best at many categories at different weights when judging how good a fighter is...
Yes, you are. I almost agree with the message you're trying to convey although a couple fighters edge it. SRR is still tops for me. Roy, Pea, Duran, SRL and the like also way up there.
Absolutely! The man in your avatar at his best is in that talk too! Roy Jones did great things, but ultimately underachieved, when considering how good he really was... Same with Mike... I wouldn't pick anyone to beat the best version of Tyson, but which version of Tyson will show up? The guy had the most insane ability at HW of all time, but he was not the greatest. He certainly had the ability to be though.. just as Roy did.
Yeah, the whole 'greatness' discussion can really grate depending on who you're discussing. If it's Robbi or Duran, I'm all for it. With MT or RJJ it's kind of a sore spot. I really disagree with how it's become almost restricted and taboo to recognize these guys for what they were at their best.
