Last night, as I was watching the KD of Joe C. on the first round, I can clearly see that Joe was badly hurt, yet RJJ wasn't able to finish him....Joe box himself from trouble, but did RJJ had a chance for the kill, and just didn't have it as he once had, or he simply couln't do it....

Jones couldn't have finished Calzaghe there... which is why he didn't. Calzaghe recovered very quickly... he ALWAYS does.

How can you finish a guy that is coming back and trying to punch you? You have to block the punches first. This is where Calzaghe is unique in his recovery and generalship.

And again, that wasn't a legal punch. Justice was served.

Joe was hurt, badly hurt, he came strong no doubt, in the last 10 years Joe hit the canvas on 3 of he most important fights...BHop, RJJ and Byron Mitchell and in all 3 he came to dominate...but a young RJJ would ahve jump on top of Joe C like crazy..he just simple couldnt or just was not confident on his abilities anymore!! Which is the point of my thread!!

I think you are missing the point. By the time he was stood up any ill effects from the punch were gone and his eyes were clear and legs steady. That was only the second time he's been genuinely hurt, forget the Hopkins KD as he never looked in trouble. All well and good speculating on what if's... but it didn't happen that way did it?

Byron Mitchell and RJJ are the only one that really have floored Joe C. wis conviction, Byron did tried to finish him and was KO in two...RJJ could have also last night...butall I am saying when RJJ was on top of his game he would ahve jump Joe C....that's the point I am trying to make!! He couldn't anymore!!

Actually joe WAS hurt pretty good. He was still stumbling a bit on the way back to the corner. Watch it again. Jones however is safety first especially after tarver 2 and Joe landed some good hard shots after he got up to keep jones cautious. A good offense is sometimes the best defense.
