They signed too many divas. Cotto, Ward, Rigo ...that's the new Destiny's Child right there.

you think they are losing money on fighters who aren't fighting?? No promoter pays fighters for sitting at home.

They'll pay once they step in the ring and fight. If Ward never fights they won't lose a dime - but meantime they have the name "Roc Nation" tied to a former top 5 P4P fighter....

They just co-promoted the 2nd largest PPV of the year.

 

Rigo, active, and in shape, paired with being matched properly won't be a problem.

 

Did they make a mistake? Well it's too early to tell. Ward's "injury" has certainly set them back but he can still do good for them if from now on everything goes smoothly up to the Kovalev fight.

Cotto can also help if he's matched right from now on.

Rigo needs fighters who will go after him. Forget fighting the best, at least create an illusion that Rigo can be exciting first.

Roc Nation need to exercise great patience and learn from mistakes. Otherwise it will all just be a wasted vanity project.

 

The problem is that Golovkin is being active, Ward isn't. Golovkin is bowling people over and getting some momentum going, Ward isn't.

Ward would have taken criticism for fighting B class guys but he gets a lot more for not fighting

You'd think it'd be obvious by now that the more influence James Prince has on a fighter's career, the worse it gets. He sold Dawson down the river to build up Ward, and when that didn't lead to immediately to PPV and easy 8 figure paydays, he turned Ward against DG.

Ironically, Ward was only a big fight or two from reaching that kind of success. He hit the reset button at a terrible time when he was on the brink of s****om: Bute and Stevenson (or Stevenson and Froch II) would've gotten him the success he thinks he's due now.

People may want to ask themselves why Haymon was more willing to keep Broner and Wilder than to pursue Ward. A big part of the answer is James Prince. Just look what he's done to Andrade's career. You see the same delusional signs and unusual matchmaking shenanigans holding up Boo Boo's career. I don't think it's just a coincidence. Nor is it coincidental that the only decent fight Andre had since the Super 6 was a guy Prince had his hooks into.

I would be pleasantly surprised if everything went smoothly in the build up to the Kovalev fight. They will continue to struggle to find decent opponents for what they are willing to pay and Ward is injury prone, this is his 3rd injury since winning the Super 6. I expect it to be a rocky road to Kovalev/Ward.
