This is the kinda BS deals that make fighters less hungry in training and not going for big fights. See its not Cotto's job to find big fights. He 'just' has to fight 3 random guys Rocnation finds for him to cash in on the contract. The less dangerous the guy the better for Cotto.

 

If the only fights GGG had over the last 3 years were Adama and Rubio, he wouldn't be crucified. Nobody would know who the hell he was to bother.

Instead, you're left here using GGG to rationalize Ward's mismanagement yet again, which is itself pretty damning considering where each man's career stood in September, 2012.

Truth is, Andre should've grown into a superstar from there (and was only a fight or two from it). Instead, a P4P rated talent and the last American gold medalist was surpassed in popularity by a guy making his U.S. debut from a country three quarters of the U.S. didn't know existed before Borat. That only happens by making the wrong decisions career wise every step of the way.

I know it's too painful to admit for you, but it's pretty obvious to anyone past the denial stage that the career wounds of Ward were self-inflicted. We'll see if he feels like fighting back or whether he decides it's time to put it down.

 

Andre Ward is a great fighter. From what I have seen personally from interviews, he is a fool. I kind of feel sorry for him as he has achieved a lot but hasn't been able to crossover into a mainstream star. But he is a boring fighter with a boring personality mixed with a huge ego when it comes to negotiating.

His last two opponents have both been overweight and overmatched. He had to succumb to giving Rodriguez a $1 million payday to get in the ring with him. Yet he still can't pay a proper rated light heavyweight (Sullivan Berrera) $500 thousand atsch. He thinks anyone he fights from now on is as dumb as Chad Dawson.

He turned down Haymon who would have had him fighting at least 3 bums for the same money per fight and he still made the wrong decision. Now he wants to lowball overmatched opponents and thinks he is a PPV star on BET atsch

He is getting exactly what he deserves in bad press.
