Marciano died in 1969 and Frazier fought Ellis in 1970...It could be possible but they had a short time together on the top, one thing Frazier thought highly of Marciano called him the 2nd best ever after Louis and said that Louis and Marciano were the only 2 heavys that could beat him. Frazier said Ali could never rope a dope Marciano
well frazier was a lucky boy he didn't face an undefeated peak late 60s ali but a rusty outta the game 3 years later comeback 70s version. if the facts are wrong please correct me.
I'm guessing they probably bumped into eachother or were at some of the same boxing events. I doubt Marciano went out of his way to meet Frazier.
maybe like tyson was lucky to face & beat a rusty larry holmes 5 years past his best but don't let that bother you
what matters is peak v peak and when does that happen. rarely. ali was good cuz he beat fighters such as foreman at their peak. did marciano or frazier fight an opponent at their peak. frazier did v foreman - he was champ but shot most say, liston as champ lost v ali but he was shot most say - where does it end.............
I think Rocky would have respected Joe's pressure and they were both quiet men so I believe Rocky would have liked Joe...Joe loved Rocky as a fighter......Rocky and Ali became friendly and Ali said Rocky would have been a tough fight for him. Ali respected Marciano's power and stamina
He's the biggest Ali suckup on this entire site, and that says something. Literally every post of his is about praising Ali, or his opponents, or trying to direct an unrelated thread into one of those, like now. Frazier had some good insights and boxing knowlegde; a bit biased against Ali, but who can blame him?
Marciano must be on print somewhere offrering his opinion about joe frazier as a fighter. rocky woulda liked joe's style of fighting as he could relate to it. they probably did meet at some point either at a fight or boxing function.
