Not sure of the exact timescale - though I think a Eubank-Jones showdown had been talked about well before Collins. That result was rather a shocker, since Collins didn't offer much beyond sheer workrate. I think the feeling was that Eubank was just past it and would have demolished Collins easily when he was a fresher man.
I love Michael Nunn. He is literally my favorite fighter ever. But Jones is way too much for him. Whether he ducked him or not I dont know. But as great as Nunn was, Jones was better.
Eubank's the only one he didn't duck. Jones was so intimidated by McClellan he literally wouldn't even mention his name while they were rival middleweight title holders. Embarrassing. McClellan more than likely would've shattered Roid's glass jaw @ 160 circa 93-94. All through '95 the talk was about Jones vs Benn yet after what Benn did to McClellan Roid would never get in the ring with Benn, even though Benn was effectively shot. Seth Abraham confirmed this; "Hes very direct about that, Abraham says of Jones nightmares of ending up in a wheelchair, like McClellan. Ive heard him say, `No Nigel Benn is going to do that to me.`"
