I remember several posters stating that Roy got paid 0 dollars for Hopkins V Jones II. Dan Rafael has just confirmed it. Damn, did Roy Jones Jr. attend the Hearns,Spinks, Damon Dash & M.C. Hammer school of business? Thats horrible deal making.

it is a sad day for Jones Jr. fans and boxing in general. Yet another elite fighter carrying on too long and humiliating himself because he doesn't know what else to do with himself but fight. I can't bare to watch anymore and he's my idol.

i feel sorry for the guy. It was ridiculous though that this fight went to PPV. And B-Hop taking 3.5 mill?! WTF! Hes the one who was dying for this rematch!

I've been watching alot of prime RJJ clips lately and I can't watch his recent fights. So sad to see the man fight he is way past it and clearly can't pull the trigger anymore. He got me into boxing in the first place and to see him like this really hurts me deep down.

Not suprising that Jones did'nt get paid and Hopkins only 3.5mil.......

.......both of these guys even in their prime have overestimated their drawing power, and as as result, they passed up fights that would have gotten them paid handsomely if not what they asked for.

The Jones-Hopkins fight being fought just a few years earlier would have generated interest and produced the biggest paydays of both their careers.
......but they did'nt manage themselves correctly, and still to the very end both being well past their prime, they were still overestimating their worth.

Jones did'nt think it to be a gamble that his fight with Hopkins would sell over a certain number of PPV's......:-(it fell well short of his expectations and he ended up getting nothing for his efforts.

Personally I felt for his shenanigans throughout his career Jones got what he deserved vs Hopkins........but admittedly its still sad to see it happen like that.

lol, def can't hate B Hop for this. If anything he comes away looking smart (for once?) because he knew this had no chance of getting over that PPV mark. So he got his revenge and Jones didn't get a cent...sick.

Hopkins is the one who was desperate for this rematch. Roy didnt give a ****. He has the w in their primes. He should have had the upper hand. Crazy. B-hop really did well here

Well at this current point in time B-Hop was the man...or at least more of the man than RJJ. He lost handidly to Joe Cal, who many think Hopkins beat (I don't, had Cal by a point, but still close) and was coming off a KO1. I think it comes down to Jones totally overestimating his drawing power at this point. But for Hopkins to have more negotiating power going into this fight makes more sense to me.

:good Good to know it aint just me. Rafeal is a complete fool who's horribly biased and completely unqualified to talk about boxing.

I'm not really sure if he didn't get anything. If he didn't get anything it's because he overestimated his popularity today.

You make Hopkins out to have outsmarted Jones, when the facts are that even he thought the fight would sell more than what it did.

The bottom line is that Jones did'nt have any bargaining leverage after being knocked out in the 1st round in his fight previous against Danny Green.

There is no way Jones would have boxed himself in like that and risked not getting paid had he beaten Danny Green as most were expecting him to do in the prelude to the Hopkins fight.........but he did'nt, and because he got knocked out against Green, any interest that might have remained for a Jones-Hopkins fight was diffused.
