Losing a boxing match doesn't mean that you are ****. Roy looked GREAT in the first round, Tarver decided to punch when Roy punched in the second round and knocked him out. It's really as simple as that.

I do think that Tarver was much better than the comp Roy had been facing for quite some time. Let's be realistic here. Roy was fighting in a very weak division, and hadn't even fought his toughest two opponents, which were Tarver and DM.

The 2nd fight was in 2004.

    The first was in 2003.

Hence, it was the previous year.

So then you fully expected Roy might be KO'd and weren't surprised at all by the outcome?

    I agree.

What "damage" exactly is that? And how can you say that determination? That's just an assumption made after the fact.

It had something to do with something you posted. It showed that you started this thread with a particular bias and an agenda against certain posters with a certain view/opinion.

    Um, yes they did.

    Why not?

    Because it's true.

I thought I had answered that, but in any event: NO, it did not affect him for any of the fights he lost.

Yes he did, for his fight with Nino Valdez.

Then he sucked himself back down to defend his title just ONE MONTH LATER, and did so successfully - and that's without the benefit of day-before-fight weigh ins to help him rehydrate.

After that, he was still a champion for another decade, all the while bulking up and sucking back down.

This notion that Roy was somehow "still" weight drained from something he did a year earlier is a nonsensical made-up excuse. Which is why it wasn't invented until well after he was KO'd.

What do you think affected him?

    Just age?

No, I'm speaking for the vast majority of people who posted on boxing sites back then, plus sportswriters, commentators, etc.

Boxrec also had Ruiz lower than he should of been.

Go to page 3 and you can see the quotes from Mackie and video proof that Roy was 200lbs

When you are in tip top shape, when you don't have anymore fat to burn your body starts to burn muscle, exactly what Roy did. Note he said all he did was run it off.

Roy weighed 200lbs, go to page 3. Ive got the proof right there.

Widdow we've discussed this before, with Mackies own quotes that the weigh in was wrong the scale never balanced. And video proof.

    200lbs he weighed vs Ruiz

He was coming into the ring at LHW at 185.

So he was cutting about 10lbs.

If he was able to cut 10lbs at HW thats still 190 - but he could probably cut a bit more so thats why I say 10-15lbs of muscle.

You can't honestly believe that they didn't have a balanced scale, do you? You do know that they just don't grab a scale and toss it out there right? These scales are checked, certified, and verified by the correct officials before they are allowed to be used for the weigh in. They don't just grab a wal-mart scale from the back of the closet that has been sitting on it's side for 5 years and throw it down.

Care to explain how those scales worked out just right for all of the undercard bouts? How they all came in right on weight? Guess what else? Jones weighed in with shoes and a track suit on! He didn't even weigh a full 193! Did you forget that minor detail? People were even whispering that Jones had weights underneath to make himself appear heavier.

The official even said he didn't do it right, the guy doing the weigh in said he was wrong.

They didn't come out right because Merkenson was getting into a fight with Ruiz cornerman and the guy wanted to get them on and off asap.

Why would Mackie go out of his way to say Jones weighed 200lbs?

Also, why is the video proof showing Jones weighing 200lbs after the weigh in?

C'mon man. You are too gullible.:yep Look at the picture with Jones weighing in. Shoes and a track suit man! Ruiz was fine weighing in as well. There wasn't any huge rush like you are trying to pretend.

Don't do this to yourself Eze. This just isn't the point that you want to get stuck on. Don't pretend like Jones grew into a heavyweight and packed on 25 pounds of muscle in under 6 months. He really didn't gain much weight. He weighed in at 193 with a track suit and shoes. So, you are leading me to believe that the scales were over 10 lbs off all of the sudden? Because without the shoes and suit he would be under 190, and you are trying to tell me that he weighed 200 butt naked? C'mon Eze... this doesn't make sense.
