According to lineage. Joe Calzaghe was absolute nothing in the LHW division.
Hill beat Maske

DM beat Hill

Gonzales beat DM

Erdei beat Gonzales

Erdei moved up in weight.

Dawson and Pascal fought for the vacant Lineal title.

Hopkins beat Pascal for the Lineal title.

To be honest I learnt all this now.

when lineage goes beyond the alphabets and the champ loses- the people never care as much as they did about the previous "true linear" champ, kinda like it gets diluted

I think this is quite bizarre, but regardless I will use it in another thread to prove how Wlad become Lineal champ after Lewis, regardless of his loss to Sanders, Purrity and Brewster.

Im not interested in a long ESB career, I only come on here from time to time, but anyhow.
The point I was making was that I wasnt fully aware of the undisputed factor when Roy was a unified LHW champ and have to give DM a mention for doing the same which I wasnt fully aware of.
the two posters you are committing on may have differing opinions but that doesnt mean either have been countered because in this situation I cannot really see a right or wrong in people having differing opinions to DM or Jones really the man as there has been so much put forward about DM showing he had done it first and not lost it in the ring at that time. But the ring gave another view, so I think its all very debateable, not that I overly care.
Maybe Erdei was the champ, I guess on that line it can be argued but not #1 in the division, or maybe because most felt Hopkins was #1 for beating Tarver, Calzaghe was the man. I suppose the thing that works well for both fighters there though is that if Erdei was the man, Hopkins was to later become the man if he wasnt then. I dont know a great deal of Erdei and had a feeling he moved up a weight anyway??
I can see you have a problem with Bailey as you have mentioned him to me several times now and 7 times on this post alone and brought up an old post of his.
Jones performance against Hill was a big stand out at LHW at the time
