Not as highly regarded as he's been for the past few years, but enough that the fight was recognized as being for the title of 'the man' etc . The Corrales fight in particular had showed that he was genuinely elite.

A lot of people ducked Nunn including Leonard, Jones, Eubank and Hearns

Liles has to share some blame for how things turned out. You do know what happened right?

There is a good chance Collins would of got a shot if he got passed Calzaghe. Its a bit silly to accuse Jones of ducking Collins, messing him around sure. Collins had no chance of winning that fight

    Very good outlook:yep

I can't disagree with anything you have said here. I also wish Roy would have just gave in more and got some of those guys in the ring.. For whatever reason I guess he felt like he shouldn't have to which is a shame, my least favorite part about Roy, is the risk v reward was constantly on his mind.

I am not sure why he is still fighting? it is hard to imagine he is broke, but it happens a lot in boxing..It is kind of sad that old fighters have to fight on and get beat up just to pay the bills.

I noticed I get kind of intimidated when I look at the man in your avatar...

In Jones' case especially, it's a shame because he was no doubt good enough to beat the all the guys I listed.

I can't imagine he's broke either, I remember reading back in the day he was earning up to $3m for his standard mandatory defences, and he got over $15m for the Ruiz fight!

Though, reading about how Holyfield has squandered career earnings of $300m, nothing can surprise me anymore in regards to money.

haha you look into his eyes and imagine him throwing one of those signature right hands at you!:shock:

I went to High School with Marvin Hagler's son Champ and I used to see him every once in a while. I asked Marvin a few years back what he would do in a fight against Jones and he smiled and looked at me and said essentially "I would go right at him and pressure him and hit him on his weak Chin and show him no respect" he said there was no way Jones could hurt him. Said he would have loved to have been able to fight Jones Prime for Prime said he would have KOed him. I agreed.

Thinking of the timescale, when did Hearns duck Nunn?

Hearns challenged Hagler (undisputed MW champion) in 1985

Fought the next best contender in Shuler to build interest for the Hagler rematch

Took a couple of tune up bouts in waiting for Hagler and Leonard to fight

Then moved up to LHW to challenge for a title there

Then moved back down, beat Roldan for the vacant title, but lost it in his first defence to Barkley, and never fought at MW again

I know Nunn called him out before he fought Leonard, but that was at SMW and Hearns never returned to MW

Liles has to share some blame for how things turned out. You do know what happened right?[/quote]

Am I right in thinking Don King had protracted issues with HBO, Liles was a Don King fighter and Jones fought exclusively on HBO?

I agree, Collins wouldn't have beaten Jones. But I can't think of much more Steve could have done to make the fight? He even travelled to Pensacola to call Roy out after the Frazier fight

For what it's worth, no Collins wasn't on Roy Jones' level, but he was extremely tough and had underrated skills. He was a tough fight for anyone

You speak the language of cowardice.

I asked you who did RJJ duck, you said RJJ didn't face Collins, DM......

There is a difference between who didn't RJJ face? and Who did RJJ duck? And I asked you that question minimum 3 times. You wanted to discuss Loudon instead. Who happens to be here now, so run along and play with him as being owned by me has shown your true character. A coward such as yourself, you turned your back on the battlefield and ran off with your tail between your legs.

what do you think I meant by that response? You said you couldn't answer because you didn't know, so that's that.

The problem for you now, is that you look silly. So all you can do is continue to post nonsense, but if you want to delude yourself into thinking you've accomplished something then go ahead, it doesn't bother me :rofl:rofl

He was elite fighter fair enough, RJJ looked far superior to FMJ in 2002 admit that.

Anyway that is not the discussion point.

You know your point earlier where you said:-

These statement above do not hold to be true in the case of the Vacant Lightweight championship.

However since you are finding it difficult to grasp it due to Floyd Mayweather being in the equation. Lets look at the Vacant Heavyweight lineal championship.

The whole boxing world agree's Wladimir Klitschko vs Chageav was for the vacant lineal heavyweight championship.

And the whole boxing world agrees Vitali klitsckho was #2 ranked heavyweight.

And the whole boxing world understand why the two brothers didn't want to fight each other.

    So saying that it is

    and that

vacant lineal championship is dealt like this.

These were incorrect information on your behalf which I just corrected. Thats all.
