Did Roy Jones start losing at LHW when his competition stepped up?

Im sure posters, like Loudon, have gone over this with you already and you have ignored everything they said, so whats the point?

Point 1:
His main form of defense was his legs he used to lean on his back foot to get out of range or just step out of range. His legs were no longer the same when he faced Calzaghe which is why he was using the turtle shell style defense.

After his lacklustre performance against Tarver III he had his HBO contract terminated.

 

Roy won 2 rounds of that fight... and was nearly knocked out in the 11th by a sneaky right hook from Tarver that was little harder than a jab.. He was done.

I think he was a good LHW but you can't live off of hypothetical imperatives(except here on ESB - would've , should've etc...) and call yourself superman etc...

He covered at times when he was against the ropes, but that was not his main form of defense.When did he use the turtle shell when he was in the middle of the ring, during the Hall fight?

Wheres the lateral movement in that fight? From around round 2 onwards he was basically fighting off the ropes and pot shotting from time to time.

If you can't see the difference in a prime Jones, and the one who fought Joe, then i am gonna let you think that way.

 

Tarver was clearly trying to hype Jones at the end of that fight, because he wanted you to believe he beat Roy at his best.

Roy was gun shy, and wouldn't let his hands go... Much like he was against Joe.
