Did he make excuses or explain why he lost or did he give Bones his props?

Never found out his reaction about the fight.

i remember him saying he got hit hard early in the fight and never recovered, probably that flying knee he ate in basically the first seconds of the fight.

I don't think he did or will make an excuse but......... I will. I'm not sure what was up but leading up to the fight with the injury and surgery again, along with the history of loses after long lay-offs with him you just kind of knew he wasn't gonna perform the way he is capable of fighting. Maybe he gets taken apart again but until he does I'll still give him a great chance in the rematch.

Unlike his fans, he never made excuses. He and his camp said that he was in decent shape going into the fight. His brother said the main problem was the flying knee that Jones landed right out of the gate.

Jones is always going to be a shitty stylistic match up for him. Rua's got suspect takedown defense, and that spells doom against a guy who can put large wrestlers on their backs with ease and land devastating strikes with his super long arms through a fighter's guard. The best strategy for Shogun in a rematch would be to blitz Jones with strikes right out of the gate before any takedowns can be attempted. Jones' chin is still a question mark. I don't think that he's been hit cleanly in the face more than ten times in his entire UFC run.

Well, Rampage made an excuse for him. Said Jones, "beat a rusty as hell Shogun."

shogun lost fair and square, im sick of all these shogun dick riders saying that a healthy shogun is the number 1 lhw. Shogun is top 10 thats all he will probably lose his next fight it seems his record is as simple as Win, loss (complain about some injury that plagued him), Win, loss (Get rampage to make an excuse for him), Win, and then lose again.

Lol Shogun is the goat at LHW and deserves another shot at Jones where we know 100% that he's in tip top condition.

I'm not counting out Shogun in a rematch. :deal

Shoguns a G. No excuses from him. The flying knee ****ed him up. Wish he'd just got KOd quickly from that knee as he took a complete hammering. Still, he's got more a shot at beating him than anyone not called Anderson

Shogun is a warrior. He won't publicly make excuses, but anyone who has followed his career knows the score. We've all saw him come back from long lay-offs due to injury before and look a shadow of himself. Anyone who denies this is either an idiot or has an agenda - it's patently obvious. No-one is saying a fully-fit, fully-sharp Shogun destroys Jones, but of course he makes a much better fight of it than the flabby, rusty version of earlier this year did.

Oh, Shogun fans... if he wins it's because he was in shape, if he loses it's obviously because he wasn't 100%, because as we all know when he is 100% he can beat anyone and everyone... at the same time!

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

There is no version of Shogun that has ever existed that could beat the Jon Jones that walked into the cage at UFC 128.

The Shogun of the Griffin fight still has no chance against JJ. The aggressive relentless PRIDE Shogun is gone and that's the version Id give a chance to beat Jones as he was capable of getting inside and swarming Jones with punches and kicks. Even then he'd still be as vulnerable to the takedowns and G'n'P as he is now

Maybe with less ring rust we may see a more relaxed and and fluid Rua, but it still wont be good enough unless he tags Jones with something whilst taking a **** load of punishment. Jones does get sloppy after pushing the pace for a round or two, like in the Bonnar and Shogun fight, but I dont see anyone really being fresh enough to keep up and take advantage

Shogun cant close the distance to strike, or stop the TD's. It's that simple for me

That opinion makes loads of sense.

I mean look who Shogun has proved himself against in his career:

    Rampage Jackson
    Lyoto Machida
    Ricardo Arona
    Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
    Alistair Overeem x2
    Kevin Randleman
Chuck Liddell (well past his best)

How can that compete with this list?

Shogun Rua (coming off a long lay-off due to injury/surgery)
    Ryan Bader
    Vladdy Matyushenko
    Brandon Vera
    Stephan Bonnar

Of course Jones destroys any version of Shogun, even the 2005 version that ****ed up Rampage, Arona and L'il Nog. He beat RYAN BADER FFS!!

Seriously, this "Bones GOAT" garbage has got to stop until he has beaten ONE SINGLE SOLITARY PRIME TOP FIGHTER, just one!

If he demolishes Rashad in his fight after Rampage, I'll maybe start to accept this kind of talk, but not yet, when his best win over a fighter in top condition is probably Vladimir "Grampa Munster" Matyushenko.

The only explanation needed for the JOnes/Shogun fight is that Shogun got massacred. End of story. No gimmicks needed.
