Now this, I'll agree with. You're delusional about the Jones fight but Rua/Coleman II was all about Shogun's conditioning. Shot Coleman really isn't even good at wrestling these days and yet he was basically grabbing Rua's leg/ankle and toppling him with all the effort it would take to drop a landmine victim. Nobody that can beat Machida is going to look THAT shitty against ancient Coleman without there being some sort of extenuating circumstance.
Be prepared to be cast down as a disgraceful Shogun nuthugger and Pride fantacist shortly for even daring to suggest that any fighter could ever not be at absolutely 100% razor-sharpness for every single fight they've ever had, injuries and lay-offs be damned.
Still don't know what you're after, so will merely re-post in the hope that you read the whole post this time and explain yourself a bit more fully:
The guy cant go two fights straight without his knee packing in. It's nothing to do with you being a ''nuthugger'', people just disagree with you. He will probably never be 100% ever again. This has effected his style, his cardio and his mind set
I don't know why you keep posting this opinion towards me. I'm not saying this Shogun is the exact same as the Pride '05 Shogun. I am well aware that he isn't. But of course the guy in the Octagon with Jones and Coleman was an inferior version to the Shogun of the 1st Machida fight. As I said before, there are guys like GSP who come into every fight in the same superb physical condition, and there are guys like Shogun and BJ Penn who do not. To deny this makes no sense to me, it's patently obvious.
Just tryna have a conversation about how Shogun would do if he was in better physical condition in a rematch... Jump up and down a few times, might help get the sand out
But with Penn, hasn't his supposed inferior physical condition been do to lack of preparation? Very different than being injured like Shogun.
:think This content is protected "I'm just bummed out. He hits hard. I took a knee shot early on and was out of it the whole fight." - Mauricio "Shogun" Rua "I think (what went wrong during the fight) was the very first strikes Jones landed on Shogun, that knee and the head kick, may have taken his gas away." Murilo Rua, older brother of former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Mauricio Rua" atsch :hat
He wasn't 100% but its like saying Cotto was drained against Pac, the fight was so one sided that any excuses or reasons don't seem like they would affect the outcome, no matter how fit Shogun is I can't see him beating Jones. Can anyone think of a fight that devastatingly one sided that was reversed in a rematch?
Crocop got obliterated by Randleman, then submitted him in 41 seconds in the rematch. Rampage got obliterated twice by Wanderlei, then buried him in the 3rd fight. There will be countless other examples of this. It happens. Not saying it would happen in the case of Jones and Shogun, but would sure like to see Shogun get the chance for revenge after another couple of good wins.
Yes, because quotes from fighters and people in their camps are always THE best way to get the truth. OK, the Rua that came off a lay-off due to surgery and went in with Jones is the exact same version of Rua that was in the first Machida fight. Hell, the guy who gassed out so ridiculously against a shot Mark Coleman was the exact same guy who smashed the living **** out of Rampage Jackson and Ricardo Arona in Pride. Why the hell not? :dead
Neither of those comparisons are valid. Shogun is clearly on a slide and will NEVER regain his PRIDE form. Additionally the Jones loss is/was clearly a horrible style match up for him. Unless Jones ages by 20 years and Shogun can turn back time a rematch is completely pointless.
If you think Wand vs Rampage is a legitimate comparison you need to have a long hard look at yourself.
