The way you see Bernard Hopkins?

I haven't seen the fight but by all accounts his performance was nothing short of disgusting. It appears that he embarrassed himself all just so he could exact revenge against a former foe.

I'm not one to judge fighters that harshly but if the reports are true, I don't think I'll hold the same amount of respect for Hopkins as I once did.

    Thoughts?

Yea I now believe his body cannot cope with a full 12 round fight.

What changed for me is that I realised B-Hop is done as a serious fighter. He can still perform well in burts, against limited opposition, but his stamina is shot to pieces, and he should retire. The thought of him fighting David Haye is totally ridiculous.

So not one viewpoint on his controversial playacting and roughhouse tactics?

Hopkins showed he is very mentally insecure when it comes to Jones, and was so much so that he looked to get out of a fight that Jones was really offering no threat in. It was almost like Tyson Holyfield 2, except Jones was a heavybag instead of a live dog, and Hopkins still looked for a way out.

And that's unacceptable from my point of view, Lefthook. The type of act that can seriously ruin a fighter, a supposed legend of the sports, reputation.

at this point his athletic capabilities are dwindling at an exponential rate. He does what he does to win the fight and its unfortunate that he has to resort to exagerrating fouls to get breathers but if its that or run out of gas after 8 rounds and lose to a shot RJJ I'd rather he do that.

    Understatement of the century, PHILLA.

No way anyone can justify the sort of actions I've been reading. From a supposed legend of the sport as well, and he was disgracing another legend of the sport in the process.

We're not discussing why it might have been the right decision either PHILLA. I'm not going to play that game.

Totally and I think it will. As said I think Hopkins would have been better off just not fighting Jones and leaving it up to the fans to come to their own conclusion of how the fight might have happened had they fought later on. Its clear to me Hopkins would have never beaten Jones in his prime now that we saw how badly Jones got in Hopkins head. Jones was able to survive that fight last night, and he looked very very bad. His legs were shot, and both his speed and timing are gone. I think he rattled off one good combo the entire fight. Everything else was slow attempts at counterpunching, but very very sad.

I think both Roy and Bernard should retire. I don't know if I have ever come to that conclusion after a "big" pay-per-view main event before. Retire guys. Hopkins hasn't lost that much physically, but for him to act the way he did over those love taps behind the head, show me that he has lost something mentally.

I think B-Hop should seriously start thinking of retirement.

:goodAgreed. I guess Bernard is shot now. If he is then I hold nothing against him the guy is 45 if he couldn't give the performance he wanted then fine. He needs to understand Haye isn't going to give him his shot at the title now. I don't think Dawson wants anything to do with Hopkins anymore due to his poor performance. Wait what did Dawson think about this fight?:think I wish they both can enjoy retirement if Bernard's shot:|, if not and he still has something in the tank and was faking:fire. All in all I hope they both retire this Hopkins-hate these past hours is high and people need to realise the guy is most likely shot to **** let's think about the better parts in his career. Jones' better parts too I'm just glad he didn't get ko'd honestly. Both are future HOF's I wish them well.

If Jones was even the fighter he was back in 2008 he could've beaten Hopkins, who is a disgrace to the sport. Sooooo mentally insecure when it comes to Jones, really didnt think id ever see the likes of it. I always saw Hopkins as a bad ass bully boxing master. However after last night I still think Jones did a job on him, Hopkins knows it! I love how the formerly master of mind games was like a child beaten by his father who grows up and beats up the old man.

Not really. The only reason I watched the fight was the hope that RJJ would do something that would remind us of the good ol' Jones. Silly me, but I am a fan of the guy.

Didn't need last night's fight to know Jones is shot as hell.

Didn't need last night's fight to know Hopkins at 45 uses every damn thing he can to take breathers and gain an advantage.

Didn't need last night's fight to know that both guys should definitely retire.
