Sonnen is a middleweight, don't care about Rua, that is the guy's weight. Evans has to cut to make 205. Was obvious that Evans was too big for him. Stick to 185 Sonnen.

It made no sense whatsoever. No one was excited by this fight and Sonnen V Wandy was already lined up. If Sonnen won, Evans reputation would have been in tatters. But Evans won, denting Sonnens Reputation in the process before a big fight and everyone is like 'Meh, it was a legit LHW beating up a MW, big deal?'

Unusually poor matchmaking by the UFC.

Can't say it made much sense.

And on paper, Rashad was all wrong for Sonnen stylistically. He had absolutely no respect for Sonnen's striking.

Sonnen is the most hyped guy I've ever seen in the UFC, I knew before the fight started that Rashad was going to kick his ass. The only reason he's a name is because he almost beat Silvia who fought with a rib injury in their first fight.

It gave Rashad Sonnen's rub from the Shogun fight. That is all. Moves Rashad up a step at least and sends Sonnen back to middleweight - emphatically.

None whatsoever. It would be a good fight if Chael was building on his Rua win and looking at another title shot. But giving that the UFC are cashing in on Chael Silva it was pointless.

I supposed now, Silva and Sonnen look more evenly matched as their records are littered with great wins and decisive losses.

I was calling for this fight to be called off once Sonnen and Wandy was announced. Fight made no sense whatsoever

I agree, it was a bad matchup for Sonnen and he got beat up like I thought he would. Not sure why he took that fight.

The good thing about the UFC is that virtually all big names have fought each other.

Can't say the same for boxing. Too many stars, too difficult to get them to fight each other, especially during their peaks.

I don't think the fight made sense but I also don't think it had any impact.

With Sonnen's loss he can drop back to MW after losing to a guy much bigger than him. He was in a division he didn't belong in he doesn't lose any stock for losing the fight.

Evans was in need of a fight and Sonnen always seems to step in when Dana White needs a favour, it gave Evans a well known name and, as it showed in the fight, he considered it to be an easy nights work as he had no respect for Sonnen's striking.

For me the only way this fight would have any impact would have been if Sonnen won.
