I seen thread after thread. and every fight while he was fighting over the years that he had one of the worst chins in boxing. but it took about 30 unanswered punches from Gvosdyk in to put him down and end his career. if he would have had the weakest chin one of those shots would have put him down.
No, Amir Khan has a glass jaw getting his legs stiffened off a jab from Prescott and than getting KTFO. Prescott barely stopped anyone after he KO'd Khan so he wasn't a puncher. Stevenson was stopped by Boone and The Nail and down against Fonfara but I wouldn't say his chin was glass. He took some shots against The Nail that would have decapitated someone with no punch resistance (like Khan or Kirkland type). At worst, Stevenson's jaw was shaky but not certified glass.
I think Adonis had a pretty much bang average chin. His offense, accuracy and physical abilities far out classed his ability to take a punch. That's just how it is with some fighters.
Average. He could obviously be hurt, put down, and was KO'd x2. It was good enough to become world champion and fight/beat world class fighters. Darnell Boone is a notoriously -- or was -- awkward and tricky fighter with sneaky and underrated power, and he was also a short guy which aided hn the leverage he put on his shots especially against taller fighters. It would have been interesting to see how he would have done against Joe Smith Jr. After becoming champion his opponents clearly seemed hand picked and tailor made for him a lot of times.
Of course the EE haters were the main ones talking about his his chin, but while not iron, it actually wasn't bad. He was a guy who would get hurt, but work through it.
Boone was a heavy fisted fighter, but Stevenson's jaw wasn't great either. Gvosdyk tightened the screws as the fight went on and Stevenson was accumulating punishment. He was getting broken down those last 2 rounds but stayed on his feet. Gvosdyk kept boxing and wasn't going for the one punch finish. Just an unlucky chain of events.
No glass at all. It took 12 rounds and an unrelenting barrage in the last one to bring him down. It was not a single shot or even a combo, but sustained, brutal punishment that put him out.
